    Hello

    I have a car as in the subject, VW Polo 9N eyepiece with 1.2 55km 40kw engine.
    I am asking for help, after what mileage should the timing be replaced? Is it enough to replace the belt or the complete set with the water pump? I would like to add that my car has a mileage of 86,000 km.

    Include the engine code to be safe, but the description says you have a chain in the engine and not a belt.

    I enter the engine code

    -ABSBMDX01 says so in the registration certificate.

    There are 3 letters on the timing cover, this is the engine code.

    You also have a sticker in the trunk, described as an engine code.

    I enter the engine code;

    -BMD

    I will just add that this is the polo IV 9N eyepiece, year 2005
    with 1.2 40kw 54km engine, not 55km

    In polo 9n all 1,2 are on the chain. The manufacturer does not specify the chain replacement interval.

    In fact, this engine is on a chain. There is no specific date for replacing this valve timing, but it will probably need to be replaced one day. What is the optimal mileage of the car after which it is necessary to replace it so that it does not break down?

Topic summary

The discussion centers around the timing chain replacement for a VW Polo 9N with a 1.2 engine (40kw). The user inquires about the appropriate mileage for replacement and whether to replace just the chain or the complete set including the water pump. Responses clarify that the engine uses a timing chain rather than a belt, and there is no specified replacement interval from the manufacturer. However, it is suggested that while the chain may not have a defined replacement schedule, it should be monitored for any signs of wear, such as noise during startup or idling. The user confirms the engine code as BMD and notes the vehicle's mileage at 86,000 km.
