    Hello
I have a Vw polo V car from 2012. with a motor 1.2 44kw 3cyl. designation of the CGPB engine
I would like to replace the timing chain itself (timing belts in pd1,9tdi, ttd and 1.8 16v)
But I have never had a chain but it must be the first time.
So, buy a timing set consisting of a chain, gears and shoes, i.e. a set. a seal for the race cover and under the timing cover, and of course a new oil and all filters.
You need to pay attention to something, maybe some of you have already done so, there are some special locks to do that without them (hesitate)
Somebody would send a link to this on pw or zdj

dial indicator and some interlocks, no blocks will not work.
Nevertheless, since you are asking for such things for security, do not do it yourself.

Due to the fact that it is not a TSI engine and you've already replaced the belts in your life, if you buy locks you can do it yourself. You need 2 locks on the rear mounted rollers, the shaft locking pin is mounted in the flywheel, after the dismantling of the polarity sensor. shaft. Costs of locks about 80- PLN 100. There always comes the first time :-) And it's best to learn your own :D
You have to be careful that all the locks are in place, the camshaft sprockets loosened and the shaft points balancing with the shaft wheel are supposed to rip, and we tighten everything according to the manufacturer's instructions. After folding, we create a shaft twice and check if the locks fit us. You need to get a silicone sealant, because you have to unscrew the bowl for this job. Due to the fact that you are not with us from yesterday, I will send you a diagram on PW.

Theoretically, you would do with those from the rollers, but you'd better buy this full set (blue box), probably not much more expensive

At the rear of the engine in the flywheel, the largest blockade. This one is a bit smaller for engines on one shaft.

Just remember not to tighten / turn off the timing gears on the placed locks on the back of the fight, because the lock you shoots.

colleague drdrug probably sent you a diagram with AutoData on PW, and there the drawing is quite unhappy, but take a good lamp and you will surely find a hole for the blockade.

and this drawing is quite unhappy there.

I sent him a scan of coloring books :-)

My friend probably did not see really illegible patterns, even for new cars, or rather sketches, for example in Artis

Hello again, I undressed everything nicely went smoothly to the gears, I made a key, locks off. the guides mentioned the tensioner chain and gearwheels.
But I have a question because on the new chain are two links of a different color and nw to which they serve? I guess that to somehow check the correct timing setting, but how to do it exactly?

I had a uniform color in the set, if there is no dot on any gear wheel where you could rip the link with the point, just mount it with the other color of the link to each other. Controlling the correct timing setting is that once you have assembled and unlocked the tensioner, turn the shaft 2x360 degrees in gmp, and then all three locks are to enter their place. If they come in, it's all git, you can put everything to pour oil and burn :-)

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around replacing the timing chain in a 2012 VW Polo V with a 1.2 44kW CGPB engine. The user seeks advice on whether special locks are required for the replacement process. Responses indicate that while it is possible to perform the replacement independently, using specific locking tools is essential for securing the camshaft and crankshaft during the procedure. Users recommend purchasing a complete timing set, including the chain, gears, and seals, and emphasize the importance of following manufacturer instructions for proper installation. Additionally, guidance is provided on the placement of locks and the significance of colored links on the new chain for timing verification.
