Hello, I googled a few videos on the net and I see that theoretically you can connect a USB webcam from a PC to a phone / tablet, so dry free android programs for operating a USB camera do not work, how to modify or add to V4L2 and where, the appropriate code, so that you can connect a webcam, e.g. an endoscope, I found something like this on this website https://github.com/openxc/android-webcam, but I do not know what to do, maybe there is someone on the forum who has successfully connected a USB camera for android.

Some devices have a typical USB camera support added to the system. Others don't have it and you can't easily change it.

In a simple way, i.e. how is it possible to bring the issue closer?

You need to prepare an appropriate system image and upload it to your mobile device. So I propose to assume that adding camera support is not possible in practice.
I think Windows tablets should support the standard USB camera. Have you considered such a solution?

    Hello
On Google Play you have a lot of Android programs under the slogan "USB Camera", upload and check if it works, when I find my camera, I will look at it.
There is also the issue of power consumption by the camera, but the popular models are not very power-hungry.

    Hello
Forgive me for not editing my message, but the essence of the issue might have eluded.
I installed CameraFi, one of the first programs available on Google Play, I pulled out two webcams from the nooks and crannies, one some noname that caused a problem in Windows and a Microsoft webcam, also quite resistant to install under Windows (I remember from XP times, then I did not use it because the laptop has internal camera).
Huawei phone, medium, not higher shelf.
I plugged the OTG cable and the camera into it, the phone responded immediately !!!!! the question whether to run CameraFi :) .
The whole thing works fine, I will say more, both cameras work!
I have a leaking shower cubicle and I will finally be able to look behind the wall and see what needs to be replaced.
Ciapus4, thanks a lot for the introduction and dusting off my webcam.
    Regards

What phone did you pair this camera with, because I tested all apps with the Fi camera and I tested it on SGS II.

    Hello
Huawei G6-L11, I have the impression that it is not the type of phone that is important, but the Android version, on the phone I have 4.3, on another with Android 2.2 most of the programs do not even install.
    Regards

Not all cameras work, it also depends on what phone and application program we have.

I have a Samsung GT-I9506 and with the Dashsam application some cameras work without any problems.

Today I tested another application for nexus 7 2012 and these two work great, they quickly detect USB OTG cameras and more options as in this earlier application.
Through the USB hub, you can even connect and reattach several cameras.
    USB Camera
    CameraFi

Interestingly, the applications detect the camera on a regular basis.
I checked on Microsoft Creative and Logitech cameras

    Microsoft LiveCam HD-6000
Creative Live Cam Notebook Ultra VF0490
    Logitech Webcam V-U0012 (C120)

    Hello,

It's been a while since the last post on this topic ...
Probably no one is looking for a solution anymore. Now TV Box is on the wave and the problem with webcams returns. Personally, I struggled with connecting any of the three cameras to the Chinese TV box H96 Max K4 Ultra HD. I tried to get help in building a USB A adapter / adapter - male to USB A - female OTG ... No result The solution turned out to be very easy, installation: OTG USB Driver For Android: USB To OTG Converter 1.2 APK ...

Maybe it will be useful to someone ...
    Greetings Piotr.
