I have been thinking about home automation lately and found something like the GSM Controller on the internet.

Could someone explain to me how such a device works and maybe recommend something from the market?

I am interested in controlling gates, lights etc.

Thanks in advance for your help.

These are devices that control the outputs after receiving the appropriate command via SMS. They require a connection to the GSM network (via SIM card). They send information on the status of the inputs via SMS.
There are several things to bear in mind when using such devices:
    - free SMS
    - network coverage of the relevant operator
    - control via SMS with appropriate commands, which can be cumbersome (over time they will be memorised)

@janeczekkk Thanks for the clarification, at my place there might be a small coverage problem (house in the countryside) but rather outside I always have full coverage on my phone on all operators.

I will investigate the topic further.

@Popak, oh actually I never knew the correct form or thought to check. Thanks.
