    Hello
I recently own the brother DCP-J105 printer. It has been operating normally and without complaint for a while and has stopped today. The computer cannot see the printer and considers it offline even though it is turned on and the printer can see the computer. I tried reinstalling the drivers (did nothing), reset the hardware and computer (also did nothing) and use the troubleshooter (nothing). The printer is connected via LAN. I would ask for quick help.

It is possible that anti-virus software is causing communication problems between the printer and computer. I had a similar case, the culprit of which was Avast software blocking communication between devices.

Check the entered network address in the printer settings and whether the MAC address of the printer's network card is displayed.
It happens that the printer's network adapter loses its MAC and thus you will not connect to any network.

I connect to the topic, I have the same printer model, it works without any problems for six months, I could print via Wi-Fi from all devices on the network, laptop, phone, tablet, even from the TV. Recently, I noticed a message next to the Offline printer symbol. I have tried everything in the settings, the error recovery manager everywhere messages that the printer is turned off, all devices see the printer as turned off. It helped for a moment uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them worked for less than two days and then Offline again. It's the same thing again, it works for a day or two and that's it. I disabled the update thought maybe the drivers will update and there is a problem but that's probably not it. Uninstalling and installing drivers each time you use the printer is a bit of a hassle, so maybe anyone has an idea how to fix this problem?

Check if you can see the MAC address of your network adapter

I understand that you mean checking the LiveBox settings through the browser, as it is in my case, if so, you can see the MAC address is the same in all tabs. Unless I have to check it otherwise, if so, tell me how?

Maybe someone solved the problem with this printer? Our printer works in the network. It is connected to the network by wired connection, no wifi. From time to time, the printer is offline on one of the computers. Sometimes on several at a time, sometimes on a single computer. It will pass after a while. At the moment I can't feel what it depends on. Computers run under windows.

In addition to Ethernet, is it also connected somewhere via USB to any computer?
It looks like some energy saver is disabling her wifi card.
Does restarting the printer solve the offline problem?

The printer is connected to the network only with a cable. Restarting helps sometimes. Today, the printer works for everyone.

Check the ip addresses in the printer and drivers :) permanently in the printer, preferably quite distant. You can also assign (reserve) an ip address to the printer via the MAC on your computer.

Similar problem with brother dcp-j315w printer (old version without wifi) - scan option doesn't work, only scan to email. I don't even remember when it broke, because I rarely scan. What could be the reason?

If it prints. Then you need to carefully check the settings ... of the destination or e-mail. You can also reset the network card and re-position it. Each specific case has a different solution. The question is whether it stopped working anyway or after replacing the equipment, changing the internet, etc.

It's hard for me to say because I noticed the problem a long time ago, but there was never time to fix it. The printer prints flawlessly, and the problem is only with scanning. The computer cannot see the printer only when it is scanning (scan to e-mail works fine and I use this option instead of normal scanning - it makes no difference to me).
I will mix up the settings as you wrote and check if the problem is fixed.
I will check the settings and let you know :)

Check the bandwidth in the router settings. If you have a wide channel set then try changing to 20MHZ.

"Reheated chop"? The last statement almost 2 years ago ...

Topic summary

The Brother DCP-J105 printer is experiencing connectivity issues, being recognized as offline despite being powered on and connected via LAN. Users suggest several troubleshooting steps, including checking anti-virus software that may block communication, verifying the printer's MAC address, and ensuring correct IP address settings. Some users report intermittent offline issues, with temporary fixes such as restarting the printer or reinstalling drivers. Recommendations also include checking router settings, particularly bandwidth configurations, and ensuring the printer is not connected via USB to any computer, which may interfere with network connectivity.
