    Hello,

I needed to buy a remote control for a residential gate for my family. Two remote controls have been in use for quite a long time, but one was damaged and the other is a bit worn out.

The original gate remote controls look exactly the same as the simplest self-copying remote controls, so I bought two such copies on a well-known auction site for several zlotys each.

According to the instructions, I erase the memory of such a remote control (A+B), put the old and new remote controls close to each other, press the button on both and that`s it. Unfortunately the gate doesn`t open.
During copying, judging by the diode signals, the new remote control responds correctly, i.e. after bringing the remote controls closer and pressing the buttons, the new remote control`s diode signals that it has "catched" the signal. Generally, all programming is done in a textbook way (I compared it with videos on the Internet). The only difference is that the new remote control has a red LED and the old one has a blue one.

Unfortunately, I don`t have access to the driver.

Why doesn`t the gate open? Do I understand correctly that the gate has specific remote controls assigned and the ability to add new ones is blocked?

The originals are probably with variable code. Then they cannot be copied.

    1) doesn`t it mean that the newly coded remote control should work at least once?

    2) the originals are quite old and don`t look high tech. Is there any way I can check whether these are remote controls with a rolling code?

Disassemble and check if the switches or jumpers are coded.

But the estate administration has it and you should ask for a new remote control and bear its cost.
Helpful post? Buy me a coffee.

It`s not always that simple. For example, in this case the area belongs to both the Community and the Administration. So the community must contact the Administration, the Administration must contact a company or installer and the latter will deal with the matter at his leisure. When repairing a gate urgently, this procedure takes a long time (and the gate is always open), so the remote control you ordered now probably won`t show up very quickly. As it was rightly written, so much "should" be done and it does not affect the issue of the remote controls I purchased because I know the procedure.

The easiest way is to call the service yourself, who will eventually add an additional radio line with the number of remote controls you want.

If the problem is a variable code, then yes, a newly "taught" pilot should once work, although a few conditions must be met:
    1) the learning process must be carried out outside the range of the receiver
    2) The "taught" remote control must be tested before using the "teacher" remote control again.

Check it, if it works exactly once, then you are clear - a remote control with a variable code, no universal one will replace it.

Today, I had some time to take apart the old remote control and take a photo. I see that it has the HCS301 chip...
Troubleshooting Self-Copying Gate Remote Controls That Won't Sync
From what I checked on the Internet, I have no chance of copying this remote control.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around troubleshooting issues with self-copying remote controls for a residential gate that fail to sync with the original remotes. The user purchased two self-copying remotes but encountered problems during the copying process, despite following the instructions correctly. Responses suggest that the original remotes may utilize a variable code system, making them incompatible with universal copies. Suggestions include checking the internal components for coding mechanisms, verifying the learning process conditions, and considering contacting the service for a new remote. The user later identified the original remote as having an HCS301 chip, indicating that copying is unlikely.
