Hello everyone. I am looking for a professional answer on what to buy a passenger car to tow a tow truck in the range of up to PLN 10,000. Would a sharan - or a 90 - 110 horse alhambra be suitable for this? Or maybe Ford maverick / terrano II, W124- 3.0, W210 ?? My point is to also commute with people to work with this one, and of course, that it should be low-emergency.

I do not know what tow truck you are going to pull 2, 2.7 or 3T DMC but remember about some provisions in the law so that you will not be disappointed later. The police like to use it.

Highway Code, Road Traffic Act, Article 62:

    1. Actual total mass of the trailer towed by:
a passenger car, a truck with a permissible total weight not exceeding 3.5 t or a bus - cannot exceed the actual total weight of the towing vehicle.

The trailer GVM for the T4 is calculated as follows: from 4500 kg (according to the manufacturer's approval, the maximum weight of the set may be), subtract the GVM of our bus (read from the registration certificate or even better from the rating plate) and get the GVM of the trailer. Example
    4500kg - 2670kg = 1830kg
For T4 with a GVM of 2670 kg, the permissible total weight of the towed trailer is 1830 kg. There is no other method of calculating the weight of the trailer, anyone who has a value greater than the above calculations in the vehicle's proof of car risks losing the registration certificate during a road check or checking in with a receipt from a diagnostic station. no

It turns out that no car can be pulled. Well, unless a truck over 4.5 tons

Tera's on course, and the computers have crocodiles, and they're running on the vine. :) They are practically not interested in the evidence. Half of the tow trucks converted from small GVW will fall, such a European reality.

That is, you can continue, provided that we have cb and ask about crocodiles, but as for Germany, France, Belgium, there are no such restrictions?

Hi, I have been driving a sharan for a few years (I recommend) 1.9 tdi 110 KM AFN made at 145KM, 1-2 times a week to Belgium, France see what's stamped in the proof, maybe 1800, 1900, 2000 kg on the hook. depends on gearbox, capacity.
I had controls a few times, for example on the sharan tow truck - continued, of course, also Sharan - the German said nothing. On the Sharan highway, whether it's a golf or a BMW 5, it is not strange.
A tow truck, its weight, e.g. 500-600 kg plus a car 1450 = around 2000 kg - no one will tell you or do anything, of course it would be appropriate to have a minimum of B + E in the driving license - but this is not in the question.
Ps, in general, from 1996 to 2014, I drove various sets, tow trucks, a tow truck with a turntable, etc. once a few years and a few kilometers I got a ticket of 20 euros for a safety rope, which I did not put on the eyelet due to haste.

The T4 2.5 tdi has 1430 kg in the ID and on the plate, and the BMW 3 has 1800 kg.

Someone misspelled something. Each homologated T4 has 2 tons on the hook.

Hello, does this mean that the vw sharan, which weighs a DMC = 1650 kg and has Q1-2000kg, can pull a weight of 2000kg on the hook?

    7. In a trailer with a permissible total weight not exceeding 3.5 t, intended to be towed by a vehicle, the permissible total weight of which is not less than 1.33 permissible total weight of the trailer, an inertia (overrun) operating brake is allowed, acting at least on wheels of one axle; the condition also applies to a trailer with a maximum authorized mass not exceeding 5 tonnes first registered before 1 January 1968.
This provision is valid only in Poland, not everyone knows it, hence discrepancies. Sharan DMC is approximately 2,200.

As for the law, I have C + E, it's more about the rules because I have already read different versions on this topic, and in total there is a large discrepancy in this

If you do not understand - you have the right - a simple example, the car has a hammer, e.g. - without an overrun brake, e.g. 500 kg, i.e. a trailer plus load cannot exceed 500 kg, with a brake, e.g. 1200 kg, it means that the trailer is equipped with an overrun brake, its weight plus goods on it cannot exceed 1200 kg.
In Sharan, I had 2000 kg, I did not see it had more, i.e. 700 kg without brake, 2000 kg with an overrun brake and of course minus the weight of the tow truck (if you have a light one, you take a larger car, if you have a heavy one yourself - you take a small car) .
The BMW 5-series also has a lot on the hook - the W124 mint too, but if the station wagon in the pneumatic version drops, the drive is over and the hook is on the asphalt.

In any normal country, if you have a 2t trailer in your car ID, it means that you pull a trailer up to 2t and ok. But not with us. ticket for a tow truck

I found something like this, and that probably explains it all. :. 1st towing truck with a GVM up to 3.5 + a light trailer up to 750 kg - we ride on B (max GVW 4250 kg),
    2. GVW 2t hauler + 1.5t GVW tow truck - we are going to B (we have less than 3.5t) + the ratio 1.33 hauling point for the trailer is preserved (entry in the registration certificate F.1 2000, Q.1 1500 )
3rd DMC 2t tow truck + DMC 2t tow truck - you must not (!) Without an additional brake (I did not want to look for the recipe anymore). We do not have the ratio of 1.33 for the overrun brake. In addition, a B + E driving license and viaTOLL tolls (!) Are already required.
    4.GVW 2.5t tow truck + 1.5t GVW tow truck - we are going, but required B + E (exceeded 3.5t)
    5. DMC tow truck 2.5t + GVM 2t tow truck - not allowed (!), Ratio 1.33 was not kept.

OK, so what can we pull tow trucks generally available, i.e. 2t and 2.5t GVM - cars (buses), which GVM is min. 33% greater than the DMC of the tow truck. So respectively:
    - GVM 2t tow truck - GVW tow truck 2.66t
    - 2.5t GVM tow truck - 3.25t GVW tow truck
    - DMC 3t tow truck - DMC 4t pulling car

Gentlemen, why these combinations is enough to buy a 4x4 car with a 3.5t hook and the range of the whole set increases to 6T and everything according to the regulations. you have to watch the kg that we load because it is going to be exceeded very quickly.

Hello, who will tell me all the pros and cons about the Jeep Grand Cherokee 5,7hemi + LPG for a tow truck? How many people, so many opinions. Now I heard that the gas box does not stand up to gas (which is utter nonsense).

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around selecting a passenger car suitable for towing a tow truck within a budget of PLN 10,000. Key considerations include the legal limitations on towing capacities, which vary based on the vehicle's weight and the type of trailer. Participants mention various models such as the VW Sharan, Alhambra, Ford Maverick, and others, discussing their towing capabilities and compliance with regulations. The VW Sharan is noted for its towing capacity of up to 2000 kg, while the T4 model is also considered for its potential to tow heavier loads. Legal requirements for towing, including the necessity of a B + E driving license for certain combinations, are emphasized. The conversation highlights the importance of understanding the vehicle's gross vehicle mass (GVM) and the implications of towing regulations in Poland.
