Siemens EQ5 Coffee Machine Issue: 'Empty the Condensate Container' Message Despite Empty Tray

Best answers

Why does a Siemens EQ5 show “empty the condensate container” even though the drip tray is empty, and how can I fix it?

The warning is usually caused by the condensate/drip-tray sensor, not by the actual amount of water in the tray, so clean and dry the drip tray, its chamber, and the sensor area thoroughly [#16044833][#16225697] On these EQ5 models the tray is checked by a capacitive sensor, so even moisture or residue on the walls can make the machine think the tray is full [#16225697] If the message still appears after cleaning, the condensation sensor itself may be dirty or faulty [#17202335] One user fixed the issue by removing the sensor and cleaning its tracks, after which the machine worked again [#17202495]

I have a problem with the Siemens EQ5 coffee machine, after starting it, the message empty the condensate container is displayed. Of course, the drip tray is empty. Nothing can be done (i.e. coffee, frothed milk). Anyone know a solution to the problem?

    Hello.
Wipe the chamber as well as the drip tray with a paper towel.

Everything wiped clean and dry. Just turn it on and the message appears after about 5 seconds as "ready". Does it have a humidity sensor or something?

There should be a blue float on the tray, it has a tab that depresses the microswitch (probably) when full. Try inserting the tray without the float, perhaps the microswitch is stuck or is already broken (closes the circuit all the time)

The blue float does not press any microswitches. The protruding element of the front cover in the tray is used for this (the one that can be pulled out by sliding up)

And the machine has a capacitive sensor that checks the filling of the drip tray. It is enough to actually have dry and clean trays and a wall where this sensor is attached.

Not all EQ5 models have a sensor, specify the model from the nameplate.

Not all, as a rule, models with crossovers/multi-way valves have such a sensor.

Without E-Nr. none of us is able to be fully convinced, after all, such information is in the Quickfiner.

Gentlemen, I have the same problem, the EQ.5 coffee machine model TE506209RW / 10. Keeps saying please drain the condensate. The tray was washed like new, the walls inside washed and still the same. What's up?

    I have a very similar Siemens EQ6 p. 100.
The espresso machine is new. Asks me to empty the drip tray - too often. Sometimes after 2-4 coffees!
The drip tray is 1/5 full.
    It shouldn't be like that.....

Tray clean? There is a capacitive sensor and if there is any sediment on the walls, it reads it as an overflowing tray

Well, of course you can, but I thought that since it was displayed so far, it's enough to feel something or I don't know.
    Other messages display correctly

Topic summary

✨ The Siemens EQ5 coffee machine displays an 'Empty the Condensate Container' message despite the drip tray being empty. Users suggest cleaning the chamber and drip tray thoroughly, checking for a blue float that may be stuck or malfunctioning, and ensuring the capacitive sensor is free of debris. Some users report that the issue may stem from a faulty condensation sensor, which can be resolved by cleaning or replacing it. The discussion highlights the importance of model specifications, as not all EQ5 models have the same sensor configurations.
