    Hello,

    Computer description:

    AIDA64 REPORT:
    http://wrzuacz.pl/file/3891483816862/Report-AIDA.html

    CPU-Z REPORT:
    http://wrzuacz.pl/file/4881483816970/LKARAMACI.html

    Description of the problem:

About 4 months ago, at some point, the USB 3.0 ports on the Lenovo G500 laptop stopped working properly. They give power, the LED on the external drive. is on but does not see the device, also does not see a wireless mouse, flash drives etc. After booting Linux from the flash drive, the problem does not disappear, the system still does not see anything.

In the device manager, it displays next to the driver the message Device status: "This device cannot be started. (Code 10)"

Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver does nothing, after restarting the computer the problem returns.

I tried to fix the problem like this:

Installing drivers from the manufacturer's website does not solve the problem?

    Use Link_usb_ support from Microsoft
    Another option, as Lenovo writes
    Quote:
Shutdown the machine, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter then hold the power button for 20secs (this drains any electric charge that's left on the machine).

When finished, plug-in the AC adapter and turn on the machine then hit F2 to boot into the BIOS. Once In the BIOS, hit F9 to load default settings then hit F10 to save and exit (this resets the hardware configuration of the machine to default).

    - min. Link_support Lenovo

If it doesn't help, you need to see what version. mb and depending on where the signal from usb3.o (PCH or ..) is sent, this element is damaged!
    - look carefully at the Usb3.0 sockets for a short circuit, about what and how I wrote last week

(' ') - USB3.o socket, unfortunately from PCH that is rather its replacement waiting!
    Look at SM Link

Do you have a Lenovo g500 with factory win 8.0 or a different system?
    - USB3.0> two ports on the left side?

    Usually it's the LA-9631 rev.?
Depending on the FRU / or model name you have different Cpu
    - the plates were for two different PCHs: HM76 and HM70
    - for e.g. (FRU: 102500290) is i7-3612QM
    For G500 model: 20236 P / N (59374977)
    -chipset HM76 rev. 04 and i3 / i5 / i7 (Ivy Bridge)

    It's from your files

    Quote:
    Lenovo G500 20 236
    Processor type Core i5-3230M, 3000 MHz (30 x 100) / 3rd Gen
    Lenovo motherboard name 20236
Intel Panther Point HM76, Intel Ivy Bridge motherboard chipset
    Windows 7 Professional

so it is not LA-9632p rev. which is on HM70 / kbc: KB9012

    is this your final diagnosis?

there was no system at the factory, I installed WIN7 x64 pro from university

yes, two USB 3.0 on the left, and one USB 2.0 on the right

If I am waiting for a USB 3.0 replacement, do you have any proven places on the Internet where you order such components, in addition to Allegro?

    Welcome gentlemen,

I repeat the question, where on the Internet, apart from Allegro, you can buy spare parts for a laptop?

I am really bothered by the lack of these USB 3.0 ports and working on one USB 2.0 port is quite tedious, so I would like to do something about it :)

Thank you in advance and best regards,

Put another system to the test and see if it changes anything. If it is the same, the service awaits you.

    In electronic stores, Ebay, AliExpress.
    What component do you need?

Post your readings (Aida) here on the forum as a * .txt file
    * or as screenshoot
    - because the old ones you gave have already expired (storage date)

    - or give data what is the motherboard, chipset, processor ?

    Hello,

    lisek wrote:

I was able to get inside and look at the name of the board, it is actually a motherboard:
    VIWGP / GR LA-9631P
    Rev: 1.0
    2013-03-06
Lenovo G500: USB 3.0 Ports Not Recognizing Devices, Device Manager Code 10, AIDA64 & CPU-Z Reports

I measured the voltages in the USB ports and it looks like this:
Lenovo G500: USB 3.0 Ports Not Recognizing Devices, Device Manager Code 10, AIDA64 & CPU-Z Reports
I measured it in such a way that I touched one handle of the meter with the pin and one always with the housing,

In addition, if I connect pin 1 and 5, it also shows 5.13V. Sometimes it shows 4.85V, maybe I touch something wrong sometimes, I have a meter in which one end is a point and the other is a frog to which I catch a pin, so it is not easy to hit in these pins and maybe I touch something wrong sometimes.

Both on and off the computer, after shorting pin 1 and 5, the meter beeps that there is flow.
It looks the same on the USB 2.0 port. I don't know if it matters, but after connecting the flash drive, it blinks once and then zero reaction and does not detect it. However, if I connect an external drive the light is on, but also does not detect the disk in the system.

Is there any program that I will measure exactly what voltage is on the USB ports?

What do you think about it?

Ps. I did not notice any burns at the USB 3.0 ports and they do not heat up,

    Hello,

    Someone? something?

If so, I can share the remote desktop on teamviewer 6 and maybe someone will be able to check what's going on with these USBs? :)

The fact that you have + 5V (on the extreme) sockets and the mass is approx.
The middle pins (Data) + D / -D that go ... to the PCH are important.
It is a very sensitive system to surges, storms, ....
    - or as I wrote you have a break in the paths from USB to ... PCH
    - or "lightning" smashed part. PCH responsible for USB

Maybe the format and installation of a new Win10 or a CMOS reset, if not PCH for replacement, you need to sit over the diagram before such an operation, measure the continuity of paths

In addition to visually checking the tracks (checking if they are burnt), can it be measured / checked with a program?

With this lightning bolt, I doubt it, because I am oversensitive about this point and I try to turn off the equipment, but maybe I do not even know that I forgot to disconnect it and it went.

As for the win 10, I doubt because I tried to put Linux (Ubuntu) with a USB flash drive and they do not work the same way, so it will probably be the same on win 10, right?

Pukes, what will I visually check these paths, because if the pendrive "shines", the disk is spinning and the phone is loading from these ports, in fact, as you write, the problem must be on the side of the data paths. And I ask you to provide some USB diagnostic tool or check the correctness of these paths (if such software exists at all).

    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,

    - how to do it? set the current meter to check the flow (what beeps when short-circuit), touch the (Data) + D / -D pin in the USB port with one end and the other end of the path entering the PCH and check if it squeaks? If so, how to locate the PCH on my laptop's board, does it look somehow characteristic?

Topic summary

The Lenovo G500 laptop is experiencing issues with its USB 3.0 ports, which are not recognizing connected devices and display a Device Manager error code 10. Despite attempts to reinstall drivers from the manufacturer's website, the problem persists. Users suggest checking for non-original drivers and recommend using Microsoft USB support. Further diagnostics indicate potential hardware issues, such as damage to the motherboard or USB controller. The user is seeking reliable online sources for replacement parts and considering testing with different operating systems. Voltage measurements at the USB ports suggest power is present, but data connections may be compromised. Recommendations include checking motherboard tracks for damage and using diagnostic tools to assess USB functionality.
