Hello, I have to install daytime running lights and I bought the ones that fit the fog lights / which were not there / the problem is as follows I connected +12 for the ignition switch and minus ground, the cable switching to the cable from the parking bulb, i.e. we turn on the light, the daytime running light goes out and everything runs dry, i.e. without the engine running, if only the engine is started, the daytime running lights do not want to go out after the parking spaces are turned on, on the contrary, they flash somehow strangely after the engine is turned off, everything returns to normal or does it work or someone has a wiring diagram where I could plug in.
    best regards

You need to use an additional relay so that the parking lights control this relay.

After all, the parking lights control these lights without the engine running after turning on the ignition, the problem is after turning on the engine.

I can read and understand the problem is after starting the engine. I made a dozen of these Opel cars this way and they all work as they should.

I have already done the connection of the relay coil to the position lights and this relay does not work because the voltage drops to about 3.5v, I will note that this relay takes a small current on the coil supply

The relay coil is to be connected in such a way that you give the power to the ignition switch and the other end of the coil is to be connected to the power supply wire of the position lights. Then, after turning on the position lights, the power supply plus appears on both ends of the relay coil and the relay disconnects the power supply to the daytime running lights.

In this system, the connection will never be caught by the relay, because in the position of the lights not turned on, the second wire of the coil will not be given a minus so that the coil will catch, so after giving the plus when the position lights are turned on, the relay will not disconnect because it was never turned on.

Really not given a minus? Well, probably when the light bulb is burned out.

Yes. Although, if the position lights are made on LEDs, such a circuit may not work.

I have some concerns about this, but I will check first, please explain why it works dry and on the engine attached, what's the difference.

Maybe the error lies in the fact that with the alternator not working the voltage on the battery is lower than when the alternator is charging, i.e. the engine is running. The voltage detection system installed in the daytime running lights controller starts to "go dumb" and hence such a phenomenon. I used the BartSoft driver for my Scenic. The lights turn on when the voltage rises above 13.5V.

    Added after 6 [minutes]:

To find out that this flashing while the engine is running has nothing to do with powering the parking / position lights / I suggest that the control cable, probably white, connect to the dipped beam bulb. Observe if something changes then.

I guess it is not related to the increase in voltage on the battery, because with the connection given above, the voltage through the relay contact will also be greater, once and twice, I have already fixed the cable straight from the battery, where there is more voltage, the system works correctly, so rather the daytime lights controller does not do it, if someone has a wiring diagram for headlights, I would be grateful.

Write to me on priv. We will not deal with the forum with a topic that not everyone is interested in.

Uec tests the bulbs on the lights off and probably it stimulates the daytime controller to turn off. Connect through the relay, it will probably work, with a plus, for example, on the key to the relay's executive contact and to the controller of the daytime, relay coil with positional.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the installation of daytime running lights (DRLs) in an Astra H, specifically addressing issues with wiring connections to the ignition switch, ground, and parking bulb. The user reports that the DRLs behave incorrectly when the engine is running, failing to turn off as intended. Several participants suggest using a relay to control the DRLs via the parking lights, but the user encounters voltage drop issues that prevent the relay from functioning properly. Solutions involve connecting the relay coil to the ignition switch and the parking light power supply, but concerns arise regarding the voltage levels when the engine is off versus running. The conversation highlights the importance of proper wiring and voltage management in DRL installations.
