Hello, I have a VW Bore from 2003.
I do not have a fis in it, but I heard that you can buy a bluetooth adapter for the OBD plug, and the whole thing can be operated with an Android phone using the application.
I have heard about the possibility of e.g. checking the combustion, clearing some errors or simple diagnostics.
Of course, to a small extent, because if I want to adapt something in the car, I will go to the mechanic ;)

And here is my question for experts, such an adapter for PLN 20 on a well-known website differs from that for e.g. 80?
Do the functions I mentioned really work?
Won't the cheap adapter do any damage?

    Regards, Dzony.

Don't compare the ELM's capabilities to the VAG cable. You'll diagnose ELM a lot after 2005, but not all can be done with it.

I am in a Fiat, I can check errors / delete them and check the engine parameters, I would rather buy a cable from a well-known user on alledrogo - it is certain that it will work and it is much better than this invention ;)

I can read and erase errors in the 2001 Peugeot HDI with ELM, but the errors are not always what they should be. In Opel Vectra DTI from 1999 I can check and delete engine errors. This is what I can say from my own experience.

Thanks for the answer. ELM or bluetooth interface?
It is known that it is not known what I would not do with it, but I mean whether the (cheap) device itself may have a bad effect on the car, electronics, etc.

ELM allows you to read fault codes related to exhaust emissions (OBD) in all cars equipped with the OBD2 system, you can view the current operating parameters of the injection system, read the so-called frozen frames and erase errors.
If the fault code is not associated with the Emissions Control System, it may not display. Then only diagnostics with a VAG or VAS diagnoscope remains.

From what I associate, ELM works on CAN and Bora is probably after K-Line?
Let go of this invention and buy a cable for a dozen zlotys and connected to a laptop.

    What are these revelations?

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the viability of using a low-cost OBD Bluetooth adapter for a 2003 VW Bora. Users express skepticism about the functionality of a PLN 20 adapter compared to more expensive options, highlighting that while ELM adapters can read and erase fault codes related to emissions, they may not provide comprehensive diagnostics for older models like the Bora, which likely uses the K-Line protocol. Recommendations lean towards investing in a more reliable cable or interface, as cheaper devices may not only lack essential features but could also potentially harm the vehicle's electronics.
