I have a new msi z170a gaming pro Carbon board, I ordered a new kabylake i5 7600k processor which requires newer bios available on the board's website. Is it possible to run the same setup without a processor or with one that is theoretically unsupported to upload a new bios? Is it Safe for the motherboard at all? ps. Please do not advise the obvious borrowing of an old skylake processor from someone because it's not so simple no one wants to do it free ...

If you do not have a source, use the services of the website - 20-50 PLN.

Generally I know how it was that older boards but apparently some newer ones have the ability to run Bios even without a processor, I am still waiting for a response from the manufacturer of the board but I have to pick up the processor tomorrow and choose this problematic i5 7600k or maybe older i5 6600k

    No.

Let them update the BIOS where you buy the disc.

I already have an album for some time, I will buy the rest. There is an option that I will buy a second older processor, once I start it, I will upload the bios and return the processor to the store. I wouldn't just scratched it, the CD will start without cooling on the cpu or will it turn off soon?

I got an answer from MSI Poland :
"If the BIOS has not been updated to the latest KabyLake processor support, then you need to do this by connecting an older generation processor (SkyLake 6 series processor)
Alternatively, you can advertise the product to the seller with the annotation "Request BIOS update for Kaby Lake processors"

So everything is clear, only the older CPU can upload the BIOS.

A small errata for today 02-02-2017:
Kaby Lake i5-7700k on my board started smoothly, without bios update. It turned out that there was a BIOS 1.6 uploaded there, which was published on the MSI website on October 18, 2016 and added support: "Supported next generation new Intel CPU." - the CD was also bought in October 2016. Writing to MSI I gave them the serial number of the CD - did they not know what they recorded bios themselves?
I have already uploaded a new bios 1.7 from 26-12-2016 which basically did not bring anything to the topic.

Maybe some of you bought such a disc after 18-10-2017 and can comment on what version had the factory BIOS?

    I'm closing the topic

Hey, I ordered the MSI B150 motherboard a few days ago and plan to buy an I5 7500 processor. I was just looking for information about this required BIOS update. I wonder if in my case it will also be possible to turn on the computer, since the only remaining option to upload the BIOS is to give the disc a warranty immediately after purchase or looking for a replacement prock on the 1151 base: /

You will not start the computer with this processor - you need to update the BIOS.

Colleague Shizo started the computer from Kaby Lake on the disc, which theoretically needs updating, so there is a chance.

Chance, opportunity! You don't know what bios is uploaded!

PS. Even if it does not start, uploading the bios in some store / service costs PLN 20-50.

If I really buy an I5 7500 processor, I will let you know how the computer turned on for the first time :)

To sum up the topic, kaby lake on this disc will start and work without any problems provided that the bios supporting these processors has been won before. Without an older skylake lake processor, we won't win a bios.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard and the compatibility of the Kaby Lake i5 7600K processor, which requires a BIOS update for proper functionality. Users inquire whether it is possible to update the BIOS without an older Skylake processor or with an unsupported CPU. Responses indicate that an older Skylake processor is necessary to perform the BIOS update if the motherboard's BIOS has not been pre-updated to support Kaby Lake processors. Some users report success in booting Kaby Lake CPUs with certain BIOS versions already installed. The consensus is that without an older CPU, the BIOS cannot be updated, and users are advised to seek BIOS updates from retailers or service centers.
