Hello, how do I plan to add SSD to the Asus GL552VW laptop in the title and here comes the question because I found, for example: CV3-8D128-11 128GB M.2 (SATA III) the disk according to the seller is new so also if there is a plus any info about him? After patting the model in google, pop up auctions in general, I do not see any tests as it looks efficient.

Is it better to use SSD 2.5 sata in place of the current one and move the current one to the place of the drive as a data disk?

So first of all, is it worth looking for M.2 up to PLN 150 or will Sata be more efficient, and is the above-mentioned model a fairly worthy proposition?

At this point I will have to give up the DVD drive which is not a big problem of course for me (SSD goes in place of the current HDD, current HDD in place of the drive)
But how about the issue of performance? Is the M.2 or Sata disk more positive?
And finally, what disk to choose up to PLN 150 max? A minimum of 60GB but 120 very welcome indeed recommended.

This M.2 is new, but from a new laptop I can't find anything about its performance, unfortunately. Up to PLN 150 with delivery on Allegro there are very few 120 GB hard drives, most are 60

I believe SSD is, however, another dimension of computer use. However, if possible, I would like to ask you to check the disc I gave above because I do not have to give up the DVD, and the second thing is the fact that this disc is practically new, in the amount of PLN 130.

On the other hand, I will hunt for 60GB with stimulants in such an amount the fastest, because 128 is very low and it is usually from the cheapest slower models.

Compare the ssd 2.5 "speeds to m.2. M.2 is a ssd drive but not a mata sata connector. Both are ssd drives.

Generally, the M.2 connector allows higher read / write speeds than SATA. It was more about a specific disk model that I gave, whether in this amount you can buy something better with this capacity because on the Internet little information about it.
In case someone would have such information, please reply because I have a few more days (while the auction will last.)

It depends. M.2 can use PCI-e x4 or it can use SATA. The disk you found is a SATA disk.

As for the Asus GL552VW, apparently there were various models of the board. In some m.2 SATA drives worked, in others M.2 PCI-e, it is worth figuring out which one you have first - an example discussion on the Asus forum regarding equipping one version of GL552 with an M.2 drive: https: / /rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?81143-GL552VW-DH71-What-drive-for-M-2-Slot

As for the disk itself, it is M.2 SATA based on TLC bones, it doesn't knock on its knees when it comes to performance. In the picture you can see that this is a model extracted from Dell, so the manufacturer's warranty is not there. It may have a Dell branded firmware which may (but does not have to) cause problems when it comes to cooperation in other equipment.

On the PC lab there was a test recently and m.2 from sata does not make much difference for several models.
Do you really want to buy a used ssd drive?
Do you know that it can be plowed and have little life ??

for PLN 220 you can already have a new 128GB SATA SSD

I don't know if I will help you, because I do not know this particular disk on M.2, but I have some experience there. From drives on M.2 I have one SSD SANDISK X300S 256GB M.2 NGFF 2280 and despite the fact that it should have 450 write and 550 read, for me this disk gets the speed Read (MB / s) 446.4, Write (MB / s) 383.6, i.e. lower speeds than they should be, but I paid 230 PLN for my disk. and the disk has a capacity of 256 GB, so in my opinion a profitable purchase, I will add that the disk had zero mileage, even though it was written in the auction that low mileage. I also have 3 SSDs for SATA III, e.g. Crucial MX300 275 GB achieves slightly higher speeds than mine on M.2, but I bought Cruciala for 329 PLN. in OEM version (m / i without packaging, with packaging the price reaches 370 PLN), I also have some SanDisk on SATA III 120 GB which is much slower than the one on M.2 and in my opinion even this "slow" SanDisk is in Completely enough, I have it in one computer, it works as a system and Windows runs really fast, in my opinion the price makes a big difference (price-to-capacity ratio), in my opinion there is nothing to be afraid of, I would take this disk on M.2 because it is cheap, it also does not need tangled cables, which may be important in the future.

Thank you for the comprehensive answers. Generally, the M.2 connector my version has a rather PCI version, while a closer look at this topic in the forum you link.
When it comes to buying a used SSD - I am aware that this is a risky solution, like buying any disk as a used one, but it is enough for max half a year when finances allow and I will be able to buy new, but from the higher shelf 250 -512GB by this time I think that this disk will survive, because according to the assurances of the seller comes from new laptops in which there was immediately a replacement for larger ones (it has several pieces).
And as for M.2 and Sat as the colleague wrote above - when it comes to the system disk, it will generally be heaven and the earth in relation to the classic HDD and I care about it at the moment, and later as I mentioned how finance will allow it even 512GB branded from the higher shelf because it is a gaming laptop that has completely replaced my PC, so someday you will want some game, video or anything else on a fast SSD.

Subject I think exhausted, also thank you for the feedback and best regards

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the decision to purchase an SSD for an Asus GL552VW laptop, specifically whether to opt for an M.2 SSD or a SATA SSD within a budget of PLN 150. Users highlight that M.2 drives can offer higher read/write speeds compared to SATA, but the specific performance of the CV3-8D128-11 128GB M.2 (SATA III) model is uncertain due to a lack of reviews. Some participants suggest that while M.2 drives are generally more expensive, the performance difference may not be significant for certain models. Concerns about the reliability of used SSDs are raised, with recommendations to consider new options if possible. Ultimately, the consensus leans towards the idea that any SSD will significantly improve system performance compared to traditional HDDs.
