The camshaft position sensor fell on me. Out of curiosity, I undressed. The wiring of the wires to the sensor was damaged. As far as I know where to sell yellow and black, I have doubts about the third wire. I suspect that it has to be tangent with the permanent magnet of the sensor. There are blue spots on it, like glue that was supposed to hold the cord. After plastic housing somehow I do not see another option, but I would rather make sure. Can anyone say anything?

    The third wire is mass.

Exactly ..., when soldering to the magnet it comes in to mass ... It's connected to the sensor housing by the magnet ... So I understand that I thought well ... I wonder why it was not soldered ... Tin with flux elegantly entered on magnet

The fact that the tin has entered does not mean that it is the right combination, that's why it was glued with an epoxy conductive adhesive.

The meter comes out ok ... I wonder if it will work ...

Will it not be better if you buy a new one, there are big vibrations in operation, it may not last, and in the end it is some kind of papranina.

It's just out of pure curiosity ... It will definitely be a new one. Thanks for confirming. Such a hall sensor could break inside?

What car is it from? He does not look like a hall at all.

This is not an inductive hall sensor, it has 2 coil outputs, 3 is a cable screen connected to the ground

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the wiring connection of a camshaft position sensor after it was damaged. The user inquires about the function of a third wire, suspecting it connects to the sensor's permanent magnet. Responses clarify that the third wire serves as a ground connection, and there are concerns about the reliability of soldering versus using conductive adhesive. The user expresses curiosity about the sensor's functionality and mentions the specific vehicle model, a BMW with an M50B20 engine. Additional insights indicate that the sensor is not a Hall effect type but rather has coil outputs, with the third wire acting as a cable screen connected to ground.
