I cannot find specific information on what the AC off REST button is for.
Somewhere I read that it was heating from the engine at a standstill, after turning off the ignition.
Somewhere else, it's from the air conditioning, I don't know anything about it anymore.
    Please help.

With the engine running, it turns off the air conditioning compressor - "economy" mode.

With the ignition off or the key removed, it is the residual heating of the REST interior - the circulation pump is turned on and the blower is set to low gear. It works until the temperature of the fluid drops (probably around 50 ° C).

I understand that when I press and this red light comes on, the stationary heating will work, right? Or the other way around? It will not work.

Exactly. For a certain period of time, the engine heat will be used to maintain a positive temperature, e.g. when going to the store, so that the interior of the car loses temperature as slowly as possible.
There is an inscription REST (from English for pause, rest), not reset. ;)

If the LED is on while the engine is running, the A / C compressor is not working.
If the LED is on when the key is removed, inserted, or turned to the 1st position (it will not work with the ignition on), the Rest system is working.

Hello. I recently became the owner of a vito w639 and after searching for an answer to my question, I came across it. Well, the air conditioning does not work in my vitek - after pressing the button, the red lamp lights up but nothing happens. You write that if the LED is on, the air conditioning compressor is not working / turned off. So I have to understand that the air conditioning works all the time and turning it off? That's how I understood it. I still have a question. What is the button next to AC / REST for, a small rectangle with two wavy lines? When I turn it on, the LED lights up but nothing happens either. I thought it might be heating windows or mirrors, but none of that. Could someone please help?

Topic summary

The AC off REST button in the Mercedes Vito 639 serves two primary functions. When the engine is running, activating this button turns off the air conditioning compressor, effectively engaging "economy" mode. When the ignition is off, the button activates the residual heating system, utilizing engine heat to maintain cabin temperature for a limited time, typically until the coolant temperature drops to around 50 °C. The LED indicator on the button provides feedback on its status: if illuminated while the engine is running, the air conditioning is disabled; if illuminated with the ignition off, the REST system is operational. Additionally, there is a query regarding another button with two wavy lines, which remains unresolved in the discussion.
