The power supply diagram of the EPS 12V 8PIN socket is as in the figure below, i.e. 4x12V / 4xGND
They also sell adapters if someone does not have a power supply with such a cable.

    The molex plug is 12V / GND / GND / 5V

So the adapter sold gives the motherboard 2x12V and 2x 5V, not 4x12V.

What is this MOBO and CPU? In most cases 4pin is enough!

    OKAY.
And as for the answer from the first post if someone knew something ...?

    Because someone is buying? :)

All in all, you can remake it :) ... only re-plug the pins: p (as long as the power of the power supply is not too weak: p)

you can; you can do it yourself - but what for?

I started to wonder why this adapter is bad ... Seriously, someone connected the 5V molex to the CPU power .... But it has no right to work. There are probably good adapters in circulation, but in this case it will be unnecessary, unless there is some extreme OC. But it's also not on this album.

I am also surprised what they sell such a cable for ...

Maybe they also sell motherboards and power supplies. This adapter has the potential to kill both.
Today everything that someone is ready to buy is selling. I have even seen passive DVI-D - D-SUB adapters - they do not work and do not work, but they are available for purchase.

There should be something like this:

It is safer to use a 4 pin P4 to 8 pin adapter, they are easily accessible.

The best logically speaking is this:

It fulfills its role both in theory and in practice. Ideally, as if it had two MOLEX connectors, but I have never seen one like that. There are at least 3 12V lines here.

    Are available.

For now, it's such a problem search - 4pin alone is enough!

PS. This is one more thing to be careful because there is a difference between ATX 8pin CPUs if you buy PCI-E 8pin :)

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the EPS 12V 8PIN ATX plug and the implications of using an adapter that converts a 4-pin Molex connector to provide power to the motherboard. Users express concerns about the adequacy of the adapter, noting that it supplies 2x12V and 2x5V instead of the required 4x12V. Some participants suggest that a 4-pin connection is often sufficient for certain setups, particularly with the Intel Quad Q9550 CPU and Geforce 9800GT GPU. There are warnings about the potential dangers of using substandard adapters, which could damage components. Recommendations include using a proper 4-pin to 8-pin adapter for safety and efficiency, while also highlighting the importance of distinguishing between ATX 8-pin and PCI-E 8-pin connectors.
