    Hello,
Let me start by saying that I am completely green about overclocking. I just got myself a new kit and would like to crank up my i5 7600k a bit. I read that the stock voltage is quite high and the latest generation processors are very hot. What would you recommend the most optimal settings for him? What voltage and what timing, what programs to test it later? What to do step by step so as not to get it and how to best spread the thermal conductive paste to reduce the temperature?

    My kit:
    Motherboard: MSI Z270 GAMING M3
    CPU: Intel Core I5-7600K
Cooling: be quiet! Dark Rock 3
Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 G1 Gaming 6GB
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4, 2x8GB, 3000MHz, CL15
    Power Supply: Aerocool AEROPGSSTRIKE-X-600 600W
    Disk 1 (system): Samsung Spin Point F1 HD753LJ 750GB 7200RPM
    Disk 2 (storage): Seagate 3.5 '' 2TB 7200RPM
    Housing: Chieftec Libra LF-01B

Each CPU is different, there are no rules what and how should be set. First, answer yourself if the third party liability insurance is needed at all? By default, the processor accelerates to 4.2 GHz ... Rather, this graphics card will not be limited by the processor, after you don't know yourself, first read about OC, you will find out what and how to set, what values not to exceed, etc.
As for testing programs: everyone is good. If there is anything wrong with any of them, or the games crash etc. it is an unstable OC. I usually use Intel Burn Test (there is also an equivalent, eg - Linx). Prime95 and others can also be used. When it comes to spreading the paste, there are also no big differences between the different methods. Personally, I apply it in the X mark. Remember that too much paste is also wrong.

Consider whether it is worth tormenting it with overclocking now and shorten its life.
After all, this i5 7600k will last you for a few years without any overclocking.
