Hi fiat punto 1, 55 hp, 1996, version SX petrol + lpg engine 1.1. Currently, when I turn on the bike, I can't drive any gear. If the car is off, I drive in without any problem. I tried to adjust the cable tension on the gearbox but it did nothing, I can't drive away. I remember that when the car was cold before this breakdown, the gears went quite well, as it was warming up the 1st and 2nd gear it was hard to knock but it worked. Currently, the boxes are not working and the car is grounded. Where is the problem? What can I do?

You probably have a damaged clutch since the begi are off when the engine is off.

    Has this car stood long?
Was it falling normally, with resistance as always or is the resistance lower?

The car drives everyday. Recently, it was hard to get a gear on a warm engine on a cold one, so I tried to crank and adjust the cable until I thought it worked. Unfortunately, the next day I started the car, I drove away normally and could not hit the course of the road. I adjusted the line, I moved normally, and then again the same thing after an hour, I can't move the car. The pedal moves normally the clutch clamp works, depending on whether I turn the cable or lower the resistance is smaller or larger, but at present I can't drive and leave the parking lot. With the engine off, the gears enter very nicely and softly super.

It looks like the clutch has ended or the paw has cracked. What not to diagnose, then you have to pull out the chest.

Either the paw broke or the pressure spring ("sunshine") ... I was coming back from work 70km ;) only starting is a problem (you need to stop and turn off the engine to drive in first gear). I assume that as you drive in, and holding the clutch, the car will start and stand (it can pull slightly). If you change gears correctly, they go in without a clutch (up is quite easy, down is much harder) ... but in general if someone has no sense and does not understand the principle of the gearbox, I do not recommend it (on LPG without the cut-off function, be hard).

The mechanic undressed, damaged pressure and shield in poor condition. I put on both used and the clutch has never worked so well in 4 years. Soft and long clutch pedal like in modern cars. The mechanic with parts took PLN 350. Thank you.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a Fiat Punto 1, 55hp, 1996 model experiencing issues with shifting gears. The owner reports that while the car can be shifted into gears when off, it fails to engage when the engine is running. Initial attempts to adjust the cable tension on the gearbox were unsuccessful. Responses suggest potential causes including a damaged clutch, broken paw, or issues with the pressure spring. A follow-up indicates that a mechanic diagnosed the problem as a damaged pressure plate and shield, which were replaced, resulting in improved clutch performance.
