    Hi,

I am going to clone a 500GB disk from an old platter to a new platter with the same capacity.

    1. Please tell me if the new disk will behave the same on the same computer? I mean general functioning.
    2. Or maybe a better activity would be to install a "fresh" system on a new disk and then transfer the data?
    3. What is sector-by-sector cloning and how is it different from normal cloning?

    Ad.1 Theoretically, everything should work.
Ad.2 There are pros and cons of these methods. By reinstalling the system you get rid of all the garbage that was on the old one, but at the same time you have to reinstall the drivers / software and all programs. When making a copy, there is no longer such a need.
Ad.3 In the first case, you have an exact copy of the first disk (sector = sector), I cannot comment on the second,

AD1 yes - otherwise it's a copy so if it goes wrong try copying again
AD2 if the system is OK, then copying will give you a ready PC in a few minutes. If you're planning to reinstall anyway, now's your best chance (I speak from experience ;) )
AD3 There is no need to do a cross-sector copy here as long as the old disk is functional. The latter method is faster, but the files must be intact and readable - with a "busted" source disk this won't work.
Here you have some and in the links in the post even more info. It may come in handy

    Acronis "won" against EaseUS.
It's better at least for me - EaseUS couldn't cope with the clone of the hard disk that XP was installed on - Acronis did it. I recommend
