    Hello.
I have projects in Step 7, I know that in order to convert them to TIA Portal v13 SP1 I need eg STEP 7 V5.4 SP5 or STEP7 V5.5. But a few questions - if anyone has worked on the topic, please share your conclusions ....
    1. After conversion, can I connect to the PLC directly from TIA, without reloading the program?
    2. I understand that after making any changes in the program (ie in TIA) I will not be able to connect to Step7?
    3. Is it worth migrating to TIA, shouldn't you rush and stay with Step? I read the descriptions on the forums, opinions vary ...

    Best regards!

ad1) You will connect but won't see any online block. The timestamp will not match, and after making any changes, TIA will want to keep the program consistent and will want to upload everything. In the case of 300, you can "cheat" him by selecting only selected "ticks".
ad2) I have not tried, but I think only the diagnostic buffer can be seen. On the other hand, we don't have such a need because ...
ad3) we do not touch operating systems. In most cases, you cannot afford long downtime, and using TIA you cannot be sure if everything will work "right back".
We happen to do new installations in 300 in TIA, but rarely and only when we want to have a panel, e.g. Basic in one project (I omit the function of connecting the driver in Step to TIA visualization via Device proxy) or together with some 1200. W most of the time we give 1500 or 1200 instead of 300.

I read the mentioned thread, although it is still being developed, but the key idea is this: "Small projects can also be done in TIA, but from larger projects I would stay away."
By the way, the question: "Step Professional ED 2010" includes:
    STEP 7 Basic software
    S7 - Graph.
    S7 - SCL
    S7 - PLCSIM
Is Step 7 Basic software the same as Step 7 v5.5?
If in the program (Step 7) I use the SCL or Graph language, then without these additions "regular" Step 7 v5.5 will not read laders?

What are the essential differences between STEP 7 Lite and STEP 7 / STEP 7 Professional?

Step 7 Basic is a component of the TIA Portal (only for S7-1200), so completely different from Step7 v5.5.

It won't only read blocks for which you don't have a package installed. In addition to the SCL you need to have a source, because the compiled one will display you as STL.
