    Hello
I have a problem simulating the Siemens S7-1200 PLC. I am using TIA Portal v13 and PLCSIM v13. When I want to create a new project, I immediately add the S7 1500 controller and nowhere to see the option to choose another one.
If I take this s7-1500 it detects it normally at TIA and everything works. If I take 1200 in TIA, I don't look for any when searching for devices, unless I show it to be incompatible, then it shows this 1500, but of course I can't do anything because it is incompatible.
Can somebody help me? Everything is about how to choose the s7-1200 controller in PLCSIM, when the default is 1500.

    I'm using Windows 8.1 64bit

    greetings

I have exactly like in this video:

at 4:09 and there is already s7-1200, and I have just 1500; /

In PLCSim, you can expand the list under the button for creating a new project and select (1200, 1500, ET200SP) there, but should automatically select the appropriate driver if you press simulation from the Portal.

Wow ... I had to install SP1 and update 1 to PLCSIM. Everything is working now and I can simulate :D
Do you also run these programs quite slowly? I have them installed on SSD, good cpu and 8GB RAM, and when I click a new project it is 15 seconds.

    Hello!
I have a problem with the communication of the s7-1200 controller with a PC. After connecting to the computer, the driver physically establishes communication (the run / stop mode is on, the Rx / Tx lamp is flashing), but the Tia Portal program does not see the driver at all. I have also tried connecting to other drivers on which I have already done programs and also does not detect them for me. I changed Ethernet cables, turned off windows firewalls, anti-virus etc. The network card seems to be working because the internet connection is ok. It adds that the TIA software is original. Maybe someone had a similar situation and will help with this trivial problem.

    What do you mean?
You connect a powered PLC to a pc, turn on TIA Portal, new project, configure a device, add new device, Simatic S7-1200> CPU> unspecifed and click it.

Maybe your IP address is rigidly stuck in the network adapter settings?
Have you tried to find him with a wireshark?

I would like to do that, but what if I don't even detect it? At least MAC Address should appear to me.

Do you want to try to configure ip? Wireshark seems to normally see an Ethernet connection.
This is a strange thing, because on the same computer for 3 years I have never had a problem with it.

Btw. Thanks for the answers :)

    Hello,
I'm coming back to the topic because I'm being chased by projects, but I still can't connect to the driver. Maybe someone once fought with something similar to that described above. greetings :)

Open the project with the program written for 1200, click the start simulation icon and it will open to you in plcsim. If the icon is inactive, i.e. you have the old version of freeware and the simulation will not go

As for Siemens' softness - from what I remember, the computer parameters recommended by Siemens to support Tia v14 are 32gb ram, processor from i7 family, ssd drive - that's such a curiosity ;)

Maybe the TIA version does not match the firmware version of your driver.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around issues faced while simulating the Siemens S7-1200 PLC using TIA Portal v13 and PLCSIM v13. The user initially encounters difficulties in selecting the S7-1200 controller, as the software defaults to the S7-1500. Solutions provided include expanding the device list in PLCSIM to select the S7-1200 and ensuring that the latest service packs and updates for PLCSIM are installed. Users also report performance issues with TIA Portal, suggesting that high system specifications are recommended for optimal operation. Additional communication problems with the S7-1200 controller are discussed, including troubleshooting steps like checking IP configurations and using network analysis tools like Wireshark.
