PLC PLCspace course - I want to become a PLC programmer - based on S7-1200
Business PLCspace has in its offer a PLC programming course presented on the Siemens S7-1200 controller. The training is available in the DVD version, it is not necessary to have a physical PLC during the course . The training presents the knowledge of PLC from the basics, the material is directed to people who do not yet have experience with PLC controllers, as well as to people with some practical experience. The training is addressed to people working in tangential industries with PLC programming, and to pupils and students. The 14-part course focuses on the S7-1200 controller from the Siemens SIMATIC family. The materials include the LAD graphic language and SCL "text" language, as well as the TIA Portal tool, the PLCSIM simulator.

    By using the course:
    - you can do the exercises regardless of whether you are a Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 user,
    - at the beginning you do not need equipment, because you do lessons on the simulator,
    - together with the course you receive the TIA Portal V14 SP1 software,
    - you have an individual position - you work on your own PC,
    - you learn to program the most popular PLC S7-1200 controller,
    - you learn languages with the greatest possibilities - you will be able to write program code of any level,
    - you distribute your education in time according to your own schedule,
    - you will learn about visualization - how to get to the HMI panel, how to connect and configure it,
    - in each project you will find additional tasks to solve the problem yourself,
    - you get to know the Factory IO tool, which takes you to the virtual factory.

    Hello.

How useful is the knowledge acquired while working with S7-300 and STEP7 (SIMATIC Manager) during this course? I mean, are there, for example, big differences in handling SIMATIC and TIA programs etc.

My specialization is rather "smaller electronics" of the type microcontrollers, etc., but for several months I have been working in a company focused on PLC (Maintenance) and I admit that now I am catching everything that goes to make up for deficiencies ... ;) I am not a big PLC specialist, for me it looks like "a little more than the basics and far to advanced", so such courses interest me the most.

    Hello,

The TIA Portal environment is significantly different from the classic STEP 7 v.5.5. There is a completely different graphical interface. For example, code segregation looks different. There are also additional folders with other functionalities. There was no S7-1200 driver in the classic software. So these are just a few differences. There are more of them.

Certainly the knowledge from the classic Step 7 software will be useful.

If you have been working with microcontrollers, I think you know the C language. SCL is discussed in the course so you will have much easier time.

Another issue is maintenance issues. The course presents topics related to PLC diagnostics for S7-1200. From the TIA Portal level, you can do the same for other PLCs from the Simatic S7 family. Maintenance workers often get the task of modifying an existing line. This is also shown in the course. A modification is made to the existing project (instead of a cross conveyor a turntable is inserted).

Bottom line: I think that after completing this course you will find answers to many questions that now arise during the first days at work.

    Regards,
    Tomasz Gilewski

    Hello.
Everything is described nicely and beautifully, but I miss one piece of information, namely the costs of this course.
I work in a company dealing in prefabrication (from the bare board to the final product) of control cabinets with the use of controllers ranging from Allien-Bradley to Siemens.
I have assembled and launched hundreds of cabinets myself, but programmers wrote programs for drivers.

Will such a course in the CV be taken seriously by the employer?

Here I can personally acknowledge that every course of this and similar type entered in the CV is taken seriously by the employer. :) You finally develop your skills and competences.

I will say more - employers are beginning to recognize (more slowly) that you will get more out of 3 such courses after 5-10 days than after 4 years of study. Well, let's face it - vocational education is not too high with us ... ;) The largest specialists in this country are in 95% cases the most common practitioners, simply.

Can you provide a reliable source on which to base your statement? Knowledge + practice give only a specialist.

Can you pass reliable source on which you base this statement? Knowledge + practice give only a specialist.

Credible sources I'm just a company where I work / worked. To be honest, I am not an engineer myself (at least in the meaning of "after graduation"), I had several years of studies and I interrupted them for private reasons, but at some point I was offered an offer that required the education of a senior engineer and I got a secondary education technical (completed Mechatronics). And the fact - after school I could not do anything, I burned 16 out of 20 transistors, and my first "success" was a battery, resistor and LED, and as I could manage to put the meter in it boooooossssss ... ;)

But also that there is no ambiguity - I do not say that theoretical knowledge is not important, because it is, of course, a complement to the practice. I just state that a "specialist" is someone who first of all "does" and not just "thinks that he knows how to do it because he has learned". I just went this way, ie "on the combs' dead bodies" .. ;)

And by the way - I still plan to return to university, and what am I ... ;)

or has anyone already used this course ??
is it recommendable or is it better to organize a traditional stationary course?
and the most important thing is whether the course actually ordered reaches the recipient or after hearing the money is lost :)

    Hello.
I used this course in total, I have almost all of them. I really recommend it with a clear conscience. A lot of knowledge for good money. As for shipping, in my case it was immediate. Good contact too. In addition, I have two books "Basics of programming simatic s7 1200 controllers in lad and scl" which I can also recommend. It's nice that there is a lot of practice outside theory.
If anyone has any questions about courses write it.
    Regards.

And I have a question for the course whether the vogue includes how or if the issues of diagnostics are explained: connection configuration communication problems, diagnosis of driver errors, network connections, whether to look for it in other courses

For my understanding it is very good in this matter. I was overwhelmed and most of the problems that beginners may come across are nicely discussed and shown. I could say that someone who is completely not in the subject after watching the course will begin to grasp the intermediate level. There are also answers to the issues raised above by the zebce user.
