Which processor do you recommend for the Gigabyte GA-B250M-DS3H? The maximum budget is PLN 900. May be new or used, but only 6th generation are used on LGA 1151. From what I saw, this budget includes the new i5 7500 (price about PLN 870), the new i5 7400 (price about PLN 820), the new i5 6500 (price about PLN 840) and the used i5 6600 PLN (price about PLN 840) .

Kaby Lake, of course. I would take the i5 7500, but if you don't want to pay extra, the i5 7400 will be ok. Skylake only if you were to buy it for a bargain price, otherwise it's not worth it. From what prices you wrote for Skylake, it is obviously not worth taking older generation processors.

No problem, I can pay extra for the i5 7500. I wanted to make sure, because more people on Allegro buy the new i5 6600 than the i5 7500, even though the i5 6600 is more expensive. With the above motherboard, the i5 7500 processor and the SilentiumPC Regnum RG2 Pure Black housing, is it worth buying a separate cooling unit and will it fit in my housing? I am thinking of SilentiumPC Fera 3 HE1224 v2 or SilentiumPC Spartan 3 PRO HE1.

And thinking logically. Kaby Lake or i5 7500 was launched in early January 2017. Skylake or i5 6600 debuted on the market in the third quarter of 2015. Which processor has sold more copies if one is on the market for 2 months and the other about a year and a half?

The RG2 can accommodate a cooler up to 160mm. As if box cooling was not enough, the intel wouldn't give it. If you want to be quieter, you can of course buy a separate cooling. Already Spartan 3 PRO HE1 is enough with an allowance. Of course, you can first put on a box cooler, and if you find it too loud, then you should buy another one.

Used 6600 because: "I wanted to make sure, because more people on Allegro buy the new i5 6600 than the i5 7500, despite the fact that the i5 6600 is more expensive." - with good reason ;) (it's not about bios / support by newer boards, but lower operating temperatures of the 6x00 series)

    What's the temperature difference?

After all, this is exactly the same line of processors, which is a strange discussion. Buy a used processor, because processors do not break down, and whether it will be a series of 6 or 7 is irrelevant to you. The 7 series has increased clock speeds, and thus a bit higher real power consumption. However, the differences are so small that you can completely ignore it no matter what power supply and cooling you use. Intel probably had some interest in releasing new sockets, maybe some user surveillance functions were having problems, I don't know. And to cover it up, they gave exactly the same processors with slightly different clock speeds and different names. Nothing has completely improved for users in them

@ n.vision That's why I ask "Rome" what are the temperature differences for which it is worth taking a used i5 6600, because I wonder what the guest will write ;) .

@U.P. - do you read exactly what the author writes? Considering the new 7 series, or the used, slightly faster, 6 series - so in this case the 6600 is more interesting.

Regarding temperatures - this is not any secret knowledge (for a person interested in the subject at least :) ), but there you go - one of the many tests below. This is not a difference on the level of a few degrees, but a dozen ... If I had the processor for myself, for overclocking, I would have chosen one of the models from the older series without hesitation.

The i5 6600 is 0.1 GHz slower than the i5 7500 as far as I know. And when you talk about the K version, it will not turn it up on this album.

Where does the author say K next to the processor, because I can't see? I read the topic if I express myself in it.

    7500: 3.6 - 3.8 GHz
    6600: 3.6 - 3.9 GHz

(respectively turbo with all cores loaded and with one)

The choice fell on the i5 7500, which has been working without reservations for some time

Topic summary

The discussion centers around processor recommendations for the Gigabyte GA-B250M-DS3H motherboard within a budget of PLN 900. Users suggest the Intel i5 7500 as the preferred choice due to its newer Kaby Lake architecture, while the i5 7400 is also considered a viable option for those looking to save costs. The i5 6600, although older, is noted for its lower operating temperatures and is popular among buyers, despite being more expensive. The conversation also touches on the suitability of aftermarket cooling solutions, with suggestions for the SilentiumPC Fera 3 HE1224 v2 and Spartan 3 PRO HE1, and the compatibility of these coolers with the SilentiumPC Regnum RG2 Pure Black case. Ultimately, the author decides on the i5 7500 after weighing the options.
