Hello, I am trying to replace the engine in the 2.2 CDI sprinter. This engine, probably the worst in the history of MB, has already died several times, so I decided to put a 2.9 TD engine there. So far I don't have a donor or the 2.9TD engine itself and I'm figuring out how to bite it. Occasional ads disappear faster than they appear, it is much easier to buy a complete engine than to hunt a whole car in the vicinity of Warsaw and swing it after it is unloaded. I have two injection pumps from 2.9 engine without turbo and this idea:
I wonder if it would be possible replacement of the electronically controlled injection pump in the 2.9TD engine with a mechanically controlled one . This would solve a lot of problems with rearranging the beam, immobilizer, computer, much easier.
Apart from other issues of this idea, I would like to find out if any of you have tried such an art, such a pump can somehow be set up for work with a turbine. The loss of a few horsepower and increased fuel consumption does not scare me, the engine is supposed to have torque and be trouble-free in use.
Maybe someone has done something like that in CDI remakes, old Mercedes cars, or off-road vehicles, where computers are unwelcome?
The topic of replacing the 2.2 CDI engine with 2.9TD does not exist on the web, I did not find anything, but I do not believe that no one has tried anything like this. I am asking for tips, work starts in the spring.

    Thank you in advance!!!

hello, was the swap successful? how did you solve the installation topic. I am at the stage of throwing the 2.9 TD engine into the VW LT, which was originally a 2.8 engine

I know a mechanic who specializes in MB to inline electronic pump spacers. They come to him from all over Poland. It takes over the car in one day. How can I give you a bearing on

    Hello, group.
I have a question for the forerunner if he is still here and the project is finished. Possibly to others who know the topic. Namely, I also lost 2.2 cdi and put 3.0 with a mechanical pump, but I have a problem with the engine temperature and tachometer. Sprinter 2003. I had the sensor in the thermostat housing and for a moment, even with the jumper where the temperature indicator should jump to max, nothing happens, the same with the engine speed - I take the shaft rotation sensor from 2.2 simulates the movement of the shaft and also dead. I hope that at least the oil sensor will work after the pan has been reworked and installed. Alternatively, could I remove the computer from the cdik and somehow control the clocks themselves to make it work? Thank you in advance for your suggestions. greetings

It's best to get the counter and lines / e beam from the same version of the engine and try to make 2 meters 1. A colleague in the audi 80, for example, added a tachometer in place of the watch and it works. There are several meters in this version on the popular auction site, just enter the phrase 3.0 d or 3.0 td mercedes and that's it.
