Hello, I have a VW Golf V 1.9 TDI 105km. I bought it on winter tires with original size 16 rims. A friend has 225/55/16 summer tires for pennies for the last half of the previous season my question is whether such tires will fit my golf and will it be okay?

The basic tires are 195/65 R15
apropos to what a friend offers - alternative 205/55 R16 or 225/50 R16 would be better

Well, it has 225/55/16 and I want a ridiculous PLN 200 for very fleshy tires and I have a dilemma whether to take them because a mega opportunity and I do not want something to rub

Too high tires and the bank will not get in and will damage the wheel arches.
You have to use 205/55/16 because there is no other solution.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the compatibility of 225/55/16 summer tires with a VW Golf V 1.9 TDI 105km, which originally comes with 16-inch rims. Users express concerns about the fitment, with one noting that the recommended tire sizes in the car's manual are crucial. Alternatives suggested include 205/55 R16 or 225/50 R16, as the 225/55/16 may be too high and could potentially damage the wheel arches. The author is considering purchasing the tires due to their low price but is apprehensive about possible rubbing issues.
