I plan to buy internet at Play. The location is Ustroń, Belwederska. I have about 1.1km to the transmitter in a straight line. What external antenna do you recommend for this?
WiFI AC is only 5Ghz. 5Ghz works much less well in homes and is more strongly suppressed on obstacles (e.g. walls) than 2.4Ghz. Outdoor antennas will not help - you will not cover the coverage of a 2-story house. You can see the network with "one dash" everywhere but it will work very slowly. With the decrease of the WiFi signal level, it goes in lower and slower modes. It may happen that it is true but the slowest mode N, and it will practically go 1mbit / s with a long delay. In addition, antennas with higher gain radiate in a narrower angle. So the floor above / below may be the opposite of expectations. Antennas in routers have a gain of 2-4dbi. You will lose a dozen db on one stone wall.
As mothers wrote, if you want to have fast WiFi, you place so many access points connected by cable to the main router to have a high signal level everywhere (not in lines because they depend on the inventor's creativity of these lines) only in physical units. I recommend WiFI scanning apps for phones.
If you stay with WIFi N, aim at 2.4Ghz. A better chance of covering the whole house, but it will work slowly in some nooks and crannies.
How it works quickly is no more than 1 wall to the router.
