Hello . My problem is that I have nowhere to connect the radiator fan. So in a nutshell: my daughter has a freshly passed license, so to get into driving I bought a Punto 2 (version 188, 3D) from 2003, engine 1.2 8V 60HP petrol injection with LPG. At some point, with increased load on the engine, I noticed that the engine temperature light came on. We stopped the car, I raise the mask to check the fan operation - it does not rotate, no cable from the fan. Well, I think I will buy a new one and after the case. Being on the sheet, in the broken punto there was a fan already replaced with a polonaise (yellow) with a cable, so I bought it and replaced the whole. I want to plug it in and here zonk: there is nowhere. I went to the workshop, we watched the whole installation and a problem from the channel: no plug where it could be inserted, even there are no loose cables that would suggest that someone cut it. Absolutely nothing. Did anyone meet something like that? How to connect with this fan now? Maybe someone will describe how the fan turns on. There is no sensor on the radiator housing. From what I saw it was only a sensor behind the thermostat. I am asking for suggestions. Greetings.

If there is no air conditioning, there is one relay and a fuse from the fan, while the relay is controlled from the ECU so the temperature is measured with this sensor on the thermostat and the computer decides when to turn on the fan.
    Relay reference R6, fuse F6 30A.
You need to look for the wires.

Thank you for the quick reply. The car is without air conditioning. I understand that we are looking for a relay and a fuse in the can in the engine compartment? The principle of operation is the signal from the sensor goes to the R6 relay, which directs it to the computer. The computer decides that you need to turn on the fan. The signal goes through the F6 30A fuse to the fan motor? So the wires from the fan motor go towards fuse F6? As I wrote, I have no way to hook up with the fan cable, as if someone had pulled the wires. Such a scheme in a lopological way: engine temperature increase-sensor-signal to ECU- from ECU signal to fuse F6-starting the fan? So, in the reverse order, should I look for the connection to the fuse?

You think wrong, the ecu relay controls the R6. The fuse F6 is between the + battery and the relay contact, the second contact is the output from the fan box. Therefore, look for a free connector with the meter from the bottom of the box connected to R 87 relay connector, connect the fan there, connect the other cable coming from it anywhere to ground

Thank you for the description and schematic. I understand that the relay is in a contactless box in the engine compartment? I will let you know how it went ... Still a small question. if everything is ok and then I briefly break the contacts from the temperature sensor, then the fan should start? Which relay is it?

Do not combine with the sensor because you still get the ECU come on theoretically, nothing should happen, if you want to check the fan itself, short the contacts 30 and 87 of the relay.

I checked the fan briefly and it works. To the previous message I added a photo of the fuse box with a question about the relay. Can you indicate which one is R6?

Buddy, turn the lid that you took off from this box and see if there are descriptions, I don't have a description for this car. The thick gray-gray wire is for the fan and the thin wire for the ECU and relay as in the diagram.

Look for this cable well, it must be. Somewhere around the upper front beam or lamp. The F6 fuse is the big green 30A at the top of the box, while the R6 relay you are missing should be at the bottom in the middle row (red, 30A) but according to the description I found it is the air conditioning compressor relay, while the radiator fan is controlled by relay R1, which is the first from the top left (the one you have).

Look for the socket for the blue plug (you will use only one connector) link

I tried to describe my friend. I connected the pin 85 with a cable from the plug from the fan motor, the second cable to the minus on the battery. I warmed up the engine and the fan did not start. I pulled the relay in, inserted the cable from the plug into the 85 pin socket and then shorted pin 85 out of 30. The fan started. I did everything on the middle relay in the right row because the windmill propeller was drawn on the casing of the box. The designation under the relay was T06 and not R6. That photo was illustrative, in the place condemned by the next colleague there is a relay, but black. Now I am a little bit worried which one I should hook up to: the one in the middle row?

Buddy, you already have all the info, cable colors, illustrative picture, so what's the problem?

Thank you all for your help. I hooked up with the cable from the fan plug in pin 87 in R1, the second minus the battery. After the temperature in the engine increased, the fan started and then turned off. I tried a few times on a fired engine - it worked without reservations. Subject to close.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around connecting the radiator fan in a 2003 Fiat Punto 2 (188) with a 1.2 8V 60HP petrol engine that runs on LPG. The user faced issues with the fan not operating due to the absence of a connection point for the fan's wiring. Responses highlighted the importance of locating the R6 relay and F6 fuse in the engine compartment, which control the fan's operation based on signals from the ECU. Users provided guidance on checking the wiring, using a multimeter to find the correct connections, and suggested that the fan could be tested by shorting specific relay pins. Ultimately, the user successfully connected the fan by wiring it to pin 87 of relay R1, confirming its operation after the engine temperature increased.
