I have the EDIMAX LT-6408n router + LTE ZTE MF823 modem and LTE Play internet. The problem is that after a few minutes it stops streaming internet radio on three computers - 2x Win10 and Win XP. It doesn't matter if it's via a website or foobar, vlc, RadioSure, Screamer. Playback stops and the player himself will not start again. You have to manually resume playback, you can do it right after the playback has stopped and it stops again after a few minutes. Downloading large files does not stop, watching YouTube, cda etc. also does not stop. I installed older firmware on the Edimax router and nothing changed. With the modem connected directly to the computer, it is approx.
Has anyone encountered such a problem, what can you still try to do? What router settings can I try?
Alternatively, someone can recommend another router that he is satisfied with for the ZTE MF823 modem.

    1. Did you perform a factory reset and reconfigure the router after the upgrade?
    2. Paste screenshots of the WAN connection configuration. And status tabs
    3. What do you mean by reconnecting? Reconnecting the internet on the router,
do you reconnect to the router?
    4. How do you connect to the router? wirelessly or wired

I installed 1.05c for the second time, but not via GUI, but with a script according to the instructions on the CP website and once after about 20 minutes, then after 7 minutes, the stream stopped again.
    1. Yes, the configuration is just setting the WIFI password, I didn't change anything else
    3. It is about resuming playback, that is clicking again on the song (stream) in the playlist / reloading the TuneIn page. You do not need to reset the connection. Interestingly, vlc doesn't resume playing itself.
    4. I connect wirelessly on 2 laptops and via cable on the PC it is the same on all.

Remove the extra configuration in the "Static IP" and "Dynamic IP" sections as well as in the rest if you changed something. Remove static DNS configurations.

Paste the contents of the VLC logs with the disconnection point, if it occurs after the above.

I have restored the factory settings, "Fixed IP address", "Default gateway", they are completed automatically, they cannot be deleted. Now it is actually worse because after about 20 to 30 seconds the playback has already stopped several times in a row. At the moment of suspension, nothing appears in the log.

Does the router configuration allow to enforce only one type of connection, eg LTE?
If not, try to do this in the modem itself by connecting it to the computer.

What is the issue with the LTE signal?

I have already forced the Lte in the modem by connecting to the computer immediately after purchase, as you can see in the screenshots, the range is 93%, I do not have an external antenna, but the modem is on the window sill with the optical visibility of the transmitter. The distance to the transmitter is 3.4 km and full visibility (the transmitter on the top of the mountain) does not cover it. I live in the countryside, so the transmitter is not heavily loaded, the speed does not drop below 15Mb / s and the average is 30-40 Mb / s. Now I have a modem connected directly to my computer and the radio has been working for over 20 minutes, so it's evidently the fault of the router, and now, after the factory settings, I do not know what has changed, it pauses playback for 1 minute and even works for several minutes early.

Well, as I read, this Edimax is at least very problematic. And most problems people solve by buying new equipment ...

Theoretically, this router is the same or almost the same as the 3G-6408n but branded for CP and plus.

In the absence of alternatives and at your own risk! you may consider installing the original edimax firmware intended for this 3G-6408n:
    http://edimax.pl/edimax/download/download/dat.../for_home/3g_routers/3g_routers_n300/3g-6408n

However, this may cause the router to snap and it will no longer work at all.

Well, it is when you only look at the price when you buy it, I owe it to myself. It is interesting that only Internet radio (including www) disconnects this way and Spotify, YouTube, etc. work. All in all, I could try with this alternative soft. I have an unused TP-Link WR543G router and an old laptop with Windows XP, it is possible to connect a modem to this laptop and release the internet on a TP LINK router so that in the event of a firmware update failure, I can use intermet for some time? And could you recommend some non-problematic router for this modem?

You have a strange set of hardware, the MF823 from Play in a version similar to Huawei's HiLink. For this Edimax scrap from CP All these are models from a few years ago. Who recommended such a purchase to you? As you can see, the whole thing is problematic. The best solution is to change the router, although for this modem the choice of hardware to OFW is small, eg MR-3420v2, the Gargoyle is compatible with WR-1043v2. Another thing is how can you be sure that you have the correct LTE signal? In my opinion, this is not the case at all. The modem shows the RSSI signal strength -96dBm, so it is practically impossible to use. The MF823 does not have advanced signal diagnostics, in addition it is Play, so we do not know in which LTE band this poor LTE signal. You can buy an LTE modem / router for Play, which has the ability to select LTE bands and signal diagnostics. Perform full diagnostics of LTE signal at home and outside using LTE phone with Network Cell Info application, show screenshots from it. What's the location? at such a distance from the BTS, an external antenna for the selected band is required.

The equipment was bought complete, as I wrote earlier, the only criterion was the price (and it was a mistake, as you can see) the equipment was used. The previous RSSI -96dBm screenshot was taken away from the window. Normally the modem in the router is in the window overlooking the transmitter (3.4 km). In addition, with the modem turned on directly to the computer, everything is fine, nothing interrupts the average speed of 30-40Mb / s. So if nothing can be done with this router, it is worth buying http://www.tp-link.com.pl/products/details/cat-14_TL-MR3420.html?
I'll do this diagnosis right away.
And if you buy a router over the Internet, would it be possible to test it, does this problem occur, and if so, return it? 14 days.

The phone is in a vertical position with its back towards the transmitter, at home the test is made in the place where the modem with the router is, outside on the balcony (outside the outline of the house), which can be seen in one of the previous photos.

matek451, what do you think about changing the firmware from a different Edimax router model, what Epic wrote about?

I don't think anything about Edimax because for me it is an electro-scrap, not even worth PLN 1. The whole set is a mistake, worth PLN 50 for the modem. Someone who got rid of him knew exactly what he was doing. Edimax offered by Plus / CP caused constant problems with LTE modem support. The operator and the producer tried to fight it, but in vain, he finally gave up on this monument. The MF823 modem is also not the best of technology, old and problematic. Without LTE2100 support and manufacturer support. He didn't really make a career. Connection on the phone with LTE1800, probably with BTS High. Signal parameters outside good. Modem placed on the USB extension cable, how long? In such amateur solutions, a frequent problem was the LTE modem power supply, i.e. insufficient power from the USB router. Is this break in streeaming associated with breaking the LTE connection, or is the internet working properly at this time?

I asked not about the opinion about the router as such because I know it's scrap but about the possibility of uploading the firmware for another router and the possible risk of damaging the current one. I will probably do it anyway, because I have nothing to lose. 1.5m USB extension cable, but on the included rigid adapter (you can not directly connect the modem to this router) is also the same. I have already written about the problem, it does not disconnect, when streaming stops, you can download files, watch YouTube (buffering). The radio station can be turned on right after it has stopped and it works again for a few minutes around 7. The timer in VLC stops, the program will not resume playback by itself, you have to do it manually. It's the same on www, you need to reload the page. Thanks to the modem connected directly to the computer as well as via the telephone as a hotspot it works flawlessly. I will most likely order the MR-3420v2 you talked about. I just want to try this alternative firmware.

The problem may be with the efficiency in powering the modem by this edimax (what the mothers451 mentioned). If so, the solution may be an active USB hub (with its own power supply). Does this modem heat up?

Peacock is not warm at all, a bit of a power supply. I updated the firmware for an unbranded counterpart, it runs "normally" on that firmware, but this one problem persists. I have already ordered MR-3420v2, I will let you know how it works, I hope it will be OK, because as I wrote both on the modem itself, it works well, it does not interrupt the stream for several hours and via hotspot from the phone.

Added after 8 [hours] 8 [minutes]:

I misunderstood the question, I was thinking about the router, the modem is actually warm. However, I have now connected: hotspot on my smartphone -> old router with client function -> on the Edimax cable -> on the laptop wifi and it's the same, so it's the Edimax router's fault

    For posterity,
on the new router it's ok, you only need to connect the modem via a usb extension cable because with direct connected wifi through the wall it is very weak, disconnects the connections and there is a high ping, you can see some interference from the modem.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around issues with streaming internet radio using an Edimax LT-6408n router paired with a ZTE MF823 LTE modem on Windows 10 and Windows XP systems. Users report that streaming stops after a few minutes, while other internet activities like downloading files and watching videos continue without interruption. Various troubleshooting steps were suggested, including firmware updates, factory resets, and configuration adjustments, but the problem persisted. Users noted that the issue seems to be specific to internet radio streaming, as other services function normally. Recommendations for alternative routers, such as the TP-Link MR-3420v2, were made, along with considerations for signal strength and modem power supply. Ultimately, one user reported success with the new router, indicating that the Edimax was likely the source of the problem.
