    Hello,
I have a Renault Grand Modus 1.5 dci 86HP 2010 for a year. I bought the car damaged but in good condition, mileage 47 thousand confirmed in the service. I did body and paint repairs. I replaced the fuel, oil and oil filter. During use, it turned out that you can hear the metallic knocking from the engine. They appear during gentle acceleration. When I press the gas hard the car accelerates without any problems. Generally, the car behaves very well on the route. But in traffic jams when you go one after the other there is no way to squeeze harder there are knocks (the mechanic called them knocking combustion). Knocks also sometimes appear at a standstill. When I gently add gas, the knock appears from 1000 to 1200 revs as if he could not go through this range of rotation. At higher revs the engine works nicely. First I went to Renault service but they said everything was fine. Then to Bosch service to check the injection. Where it turned out that the injections are in very good condition. The delphi test showed no problems. After connecting the clip there are no errors. I have driven 15,000 since the purchase. During this time I learned how to avoid these knocks. Generally, I need to add gas more strongly. I am afraid that such driving may lead to faster engine wear. Especially since when the engine is cold you should not accelerate strongly. I am asking for help in diagnosis.

It's hard to figure out what's knocking after the description. It would be good to record this knocking on the phone and fit in this topic.

A few years back, I decomposed the first 1.5 DCI 82-horsepower engine from Renault Clio. Then I put it back together. As a result, two days lost and some money for fluids and gaskets and the engine knocked quietly (reminiscent of the sound of the shell) as it does today. They have it.

I had similarly when the camshaft was moved. After correct setting it stopped.

You are wrong, a wrongly set timing gear and a malfunctioning car are a common case of mechanics' mistake.

    Hello,
At first I thought it was a camshaft. I exchanged in February with no results. In addition, I have the impression that there is something wrong with the engine cushion on the right, sometimes at low speed you can hear the engine hitting the car frame (something like a growl). I wonder if this disturbs the knock sensor, which leads to incorrect engine operation. The knocking on the engine intensifies at lower outside temperatures. Probably because the frame is shrinking. I'll let you know how to fix a pillow problem.

    Hello,
got a little cold and the problem returns. Long ago I had FSO POLONEZ. When I turned off choke too early, the engine worked unevenly during acceleration. It reminds me of my Modus' work. Polonez had the opportunity to change where he should draw air. During colder periods, the air was drawn from the exhaust manifold, which was hot, which heated the sucked air. As we know, the beginning of the pipe in Modus is located at the very front, which draws in cold air. Following this lead, I decided to do a test on my Modus and the beginning of the pipe went deeper into the engine chamber just above the EGR pipe. It turned out that it helped. When I started the engine in the morning it knocked for a while but then the engine worked very evenly. It follows that one of the sensors incorrectly gives the parameters to the computer and this one is not able to properly select the amount of fuel. I will add that after connecting the laptop to the car there are no errors. I will replace the flow meter for the beginning, we will see what the effects will be.

Parameters check no errors. Then you will know what cheats.

For what purpose, if you do not know what are its parameters during the car?

    Hello,
yes I thought you should check the parameters and it will come out which sensor gives unreal values but the mechanic said that if any sensor gave wrong values then an error would occur. Mistakes are not all right then.
Please let me know if checking parameters is a separate procedure. Alternatively, how and who can do it.

This is not a procedure, a cougar mechanic or electromechanic will review the parameters of the motor when connected to the computer. If a sensor gives too high or too low a value, but it is within the normal range, it will not show the error, and may cause interference in the engine. That's the easiest way to describe it.

Hello, I wanted to refresh the topic. My clio 2008 86KM behaves in a similar way. It clicks louder on a cold engine and with light gassing you can hear a rhythmic knock something like 5-7 knocks 2sec break and then 5-7 knocks. Knocking something like a metal spoon on the body. In addition, when you gently add gas, it knocks (it seems like it is the moment when the car does not turn on the turbine and the engine pulls with its nominal power) when the gas is pressed, it accelerates and basically the clatter ceases to be heard. The computer shows error p0670. Auto mileage 132 thousand without adventures, exchange on time. By car I personally made 12,000 changed oil after purchase and recently 2 weeks ago. It's hard for me to get used to the work of the engine because when I bought it it was quieter than many petrol ones. I am asking for help and consent I apologize for Chaos in the post.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a metallic knocking sound experienced in a 2010 Renault Grand Modus 1.5 dci 86HP during gentle acceleration, particularly noticeable between 1000 to 1200 RPM and at low speeds. The owner, who purchased the vehicle with confirmed low mileage and has performed various maintenance tasks, initially suspected issues with the camshaft and engine mounts. Responses from other users suggest potential causes such as misaligned timing gears, camshaft settings, and sensor malfunctions affecting fuel delivery. One user noted improvements after modifying the air intake location to draw warmer air, indicating that sensor readings may not always trigger error codes despite affecting engine performance. The need for thorough parameter checks by a qualified mechanic is emphasized to identify any discrepancies in sensor values that could lead to engine knocking.
