It was necessary to enter in the browser the password "mini jack 3.5mm 4-pin" and look in the graphics.

I would like to refresh the topic, because my question also concerns the cable with a mini jack plug.
I damaged the cord in the headphones between the plug and the microphone. I do not know exactly where the fault is, so I decided to buy a new cable with a pre-made plug and replace the whole damaged part. I bought a cable with plugs from two sides. I measured the transitions between the plug-in segments and it turned out that there was a break on S (according to TRRS markings). I asked the seller to send a second wire. It turned out that there is also a break. I cut one plug, because it is unnecessary anyway. I thought maybe something was not soldered and hence this break, but it turned out that the cable is three-core. A fool. After all, with a 4-pin plug and a three-core cable, it can not work. Several dozen people bought the cable. Has anyone noticed it, or maybe he is fit, and I do not know something?

The description of the auction looks like this:
    "...
New, reinforced audio cable 2x mini-jack 4-pin. The cable is used to connect, for example, a telephone with home cinema or car radio via a mini-jack connector. The cable allows you to send audio signal in analog stereo format and mono signal from the microphone via a 4-pin connector. High durability, solid workmanship!
    ... "
The cord has no braid. After removing the insulation, there are only three copper veins covered with enamel, one of which has an additional fiber (I assume that this is a reinforcement). Besides, as I wrote, on the S segment there is no transition between the plugs (I checked by measuring the resistance with the multimeter). It looks as if these 4-pin plugs were used only for compatibility with a 4-pin socket, and in fact the microphone track in this cable does not exist. In total, you can use this cable to connect your phone to the AUX input to send an audio-stereo signal and it will work. I do not know if the specification of such an input at all includes a microphone signal. I am not a specialist in this type of connections. Maybe the seller just does not know what he sells, but I'm surprised that people buy it and nobody noticed it before. On another auction, someone sells an identical wire with the same description. Maybe people only use it for audio and do not bother anyone that there is no microphone track. I asked here because I thought maybe there is something I do not know about the construction of such a link. For example, in power networks there are three-wire transmission lines, in which there are only three phases, and there is no neutral, but here probably is just a false 4-pin connector and an incorrect description of the auction. Or maybe someone has an idea?

Yes, it happens when we choose the most favorable price. For the quality, unfortunately, you have to pay. And that there are many who risk hoping to get a good product, does not testify. In addition, the description of the auction should be carefully read:

    .

    - Why a microphone cable in this application? - ask your friend a key question. I will suggest: - the left channel (1), right channel (2) and common ground (3) cable are needed.

The price does not have anything to do here. Because this cable is reasonably well made and is sufficient for unprofessional applications. When connecting to a home cinema or car stereo, of course, as you wrote, three wires are enough, but in the next sentence it says "The cable allows you to send audio signal in analog stereo format and mono signal from a microphone via a 4-pin connector". I wanted to buy a cable with four wires and a 4-pin plug so much that my thinking turned off. In the description instead of the word "and" should be the word "or". Already after my previous post I explained it all. After all, on the fourth pin there can not be a connection between the plugs, because the fourth pin in the phone is the microphone connector, i.e. the input. What would be the sense of connecting the microphone input on the phone with another input. Although the AUX IN input has probably only three pins, because you wrote the left, right and mass. And the mono signal from the microphone can be sent via one of the channels and ground. And all clear.
    Thanks for the answers.

Buddy, you can not read with understanding. Is "i" or "and" does not matter because it is not written "to transmit the signal from the phone microphone" and it is written "

If you carefully analyze all kinds of possible, occurring combinations understand where you are committing a rational error.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around repairing broken headphones at the 3.5mm mini jack connector. The original poster seeks assistance in identifying the correct wiring scheme for the headphone wires. Responses provide insights into the wiring configuration, indicating that the green braided wire is for the microphone, while the red and black wires correspond to the left and right audio channels. Users suggest searching for "mini jack 3.5mm 4-pin" for visual references. A follow-up inquiry addresses issues with a purchased cable that was incorrectly labeled as having a 4-pin configuration but only contained three wires, leading to confusion about its functionality. The conversation highlights the importance of understanding wiring specifications and the potential pitfalls of purchasing low-quality cables.
