    Hey

My mother has Windows XP. Apparently, it will stop working from July. Is there any way to free it and legally update it to a higher version? Such that the computer can handle because it is quite old. I will be grateful for the advice

At this point, it would be good to show off what kind of equipment it is (its configuration). Without this basic information, we do not know what he "will bear"

You told some good stupidity. Operating systems do not stop working themselves. I still have a computer with Windows 95 and ... surprisingly works.

If your mother needs a computer, leave it as it is, and if you want to change it, you will probably need to replace the whole computer. Today, a single-core processor, although it would still be suitable for most things, even browsing the Internet (especially multimedia on the Internet) becomes quite cumbersome.

Windows 98 or NT 4.0 systems still work, so Windows XP will not stop working.

Leave equipment as it is and use it works and is sufficient.
Edit: I have already been warned.
