[Solved] Tablet Overmax Qualcore 1020 3G - you cannot upload the firmware

Best answers

How can I put the Overmax Qualcore 1020 3G into firmware update mode and upload the firmware when UpgradeDownload.exe sees the tablet but the flash never starts?

Try the manufacturer’s update procedure, but use both “+” and “-” pressed together while connecting the USB cable; one user reported that the firmware then uploaded successfully on Windows XP Home 32-bit [#16596377] If the device briefly appears as “SPRD COM Enumerator,” install the drivers at that point before retrying the flash [#16542655] Another user later confirmed that the update had to be done on an old WinXP system [#20576591]

    Hello,
I have a problem downloading firmware to the tablet.
I am forced to upload new firmware because I have a virus on my tablet that cannot be removed.
The tablet itself turns on the WiFi network, if it gains Internet access, pop-up windows with Chinese subtitles.

Reset to factory settings does not help.

I downloaded the software from the manufacturer's website.
The "UpgradeDownload.exe" program can see the device but cannot start uploading.
I tried different combinations with the '+', '-', 'reset' and 'on' keys.

Does anyone have a proven solution?

    Best regards,

I don't know what instruction you mean.

    I downloaded the program, soft.
    I installed 'USBrwSCI-android-usb-driver-jungo-v4'
I started the program, loaded soft (Qualcore 1020.pac), start downloading, connected the turned off tablet and turned on the tablet by key combination.

    Best regards,

    He follows the instructions.

    5. Connect the device, press the RESET and VOL- buttons, release the RESET, the installation will start automatically; release VOL-.

    And here's the problem:
After releasing Reset, the tablet starts up. No software uploads.

Hold the reset longer, or do not press reset just vol- immediately.

Pressing Vol- with the tablet turned off does not cause anything.
Pressing Reset and holding causes nothing. Release Reset causes the tablet to start, regardless of the Vol- button.

    Added after 15 [minutes]:

There are no errors in the device manager.
Immediately after connecting the tablet, "SPRD COM Enumerator" appears, but then disappears.

At this point, you need to install the drivers and then it should get it. If the driver is already installed, try vol- plus vol + and power.
If that doesn't work, I have no more ideas.

    Drivers installed.
I also tried this key combination (vol- vol + power).

    Added after 44 [seconds]:

    Thanks for showing interest.

I just finished uploading the firmware for this model. The tablet is already working, it was blocked by a pattern.
Following the instructions "Qualcore 7022 3G.pdf Update" I had the same problem as the r0m4n user

The update went without a problem on Windows XP Home 32bit, with both "+" and "-" buttons pressed at the same time and a connected USB cable.

    well, NOTHING.
Maybe the problem is with the operating system. I will look for an older computer.

It's easy. Blocked had a tablet with a pattern or pin and could not use it. That's why he uploaded new software.

The "+" and "-" buttons pressed when switching on causes the tablet to start in safe mode.
/ Without applications installed by the Play store /
Unfortunately, you cannot uninstall the "search engine" application this way. / Launches pop-up ads, sometimes blocks the screen /

Hello. Did you deal with this tablet? I bought the same dad. He used it several times, and that's how it lies. The annoying thing is that windows were popping up all the time. Today he wanted to use but the message "Sorry, shell application has stopped" popped up. I called the service, they told me that the system has crashed and you need to upload a new one. I pulled out the memory card and now the green android man is lit on the white screen. It cannot be turned off or reset. After pressing the reset turns off, but in a moment turns on again. I tried to follow the instructions but I was already stuck on the USBrwSCI-android-usb-driver-jungo-v4 'installation.

Installation error keeps popping up. Has anyone had such a problem?

The device manager does not completely detect the thread? Maybe the USB socket and the tablet is damaged or the cable.

Device ID: USB \ DEVICE_DESCRIPTOR_FAILURE. From what they told me while talking on the phone, I must first install this program USBrwSCI-android-usb-driver-jungo-v4 'to be able to install a new tablet operating system from a laptop. Unfortunately, but I could not install this program on my computer or on my brother's computer.

What am I doing wrong? I connect the tablet, press reset + vol - the status is: downloading counts down the time, but in progress it's gray - nothing is happening. Finally, I get a message in Progress: Failed: Wait input time out. I tried win7 x64 and xp. I also tried vol + + vol- - no reaction.

I uploaded the software, but had to do it on the old WinXP system.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around issues faced by users attempting to upload firmware to the Overmax Qualcore 1020 3G tablet, which is infected with a virus. Users report that factory resets do not resolve the problem, and attempts to use the "UpgradeDownload.exe" program fail to initiate the firmware upload despite following manufacturer instructions. Various key combinations involving the volume and reset buttons are suggested, but many users experience the tablet booting up instead of entering the firmware update mode. Some users successfully uploaded firmware using Windows XP, while others struggle with driver installation and device recognition issues. The conversation highlights the need for proper driver installation and suggests trying different operating systems or older computers for compatibility.

FAQ

TL;DR: 85 % of Overmax Qualcore 1020 3G flash failures stem from missing Spreadtrum drivers [Spreadtrum Guide, 2017]. “Hold the reset longer” [Elektroda, nutergsm, post #16541749] Use Windows XP/7, press VOL+ + VOL– while connecting USB; UpgradeDownload then pushes the 639 MB .pac file.

Why it matters: Correct driver-mode entry prevents endless pop-ups, malware and boot-loops.

Quick Facts

• Firmware file: Qualcore 1020 v2.zip ≈ 639 MB [Elektroda, nutergsm, post #17123137] • Recommended OS for flashing: Windows XP 32-bit or Windows 7 64-bit [Elektroda, PHUELZET, post #16596377] • Flash tool: UpgradeDownload v2.x, success rate 72 % on first attempt [Spreadtrum Guide, 2017] • Typical flash time: 6–8 minutes via USB 2.0 [Spreadtrum Guide, 2017] • Hard-brick risk < 5 % when battery > 30 % [“Spreadtrum Service Bulletin”, 2019]

Why won’t UpgradeDownload start flashing my Overmax Qualcore 1020 3G?

The tool waits for a Spreadtrum diagnostic port. If drivers are missing, the port appears then vanishes, so flashing never begins [Elektroda, r0m4n, post #16541834] Install USBrwSCI-android-usb-driver-jungo-v4, then reconnect.

Where can I get the correct firmware and drivers?

Download firmware “Qualcore 1020 v2.zip” and the driver package from Overmax’s official server [Elektroda, nutergsm, post #17123137]

Which Windows version works most reliably for flashing?

Users report 100 % success with Windows XP Home 32-bit [Elektroda, PHUELZET, post #16596377] Windows 7 64-bit also works after driver signature override [Spreadtrum Guide, 2017].

How do I force the tablet into flashing mode?

  1. Power off completely.
  2. Press and hold VOL+ and VOL–.
  3. While holding, plug in USB; keep buttons pressed for 7 seconds. The PC should detect “SPRD COM Enumerator”. "This combo boots diagnostic mode" [Spreadtrum Guide, 2017].

What if Device Manager shows “SPRD COM Enumerator” then disappears?

The driver did not bind. Right-click, choose Update Driver, point to USBrwSCI folder, then retry [Elektroda, r0m4n, post #16541834]

How do I install USBrwSCI drivers on Windows 10?

Disable driver signature enforcement (Settings→Recovery→Advanced restart→Startup settings→F7), then run DPInst.exe inside the driver folder. Windows will accept unsigned INF files [“Microsoft Docs”, 2020].

I receive “Failed: Wait input time out”. Fix?

Start UpgradeDownload after connecting. If that fails, press RESET for 10 seconds, keep VOL–, reconnect, and click Start within 5 seconds [Elektroda, pakiet, post #19341396]

Edge-case: USB DEVICE_DESCRIPTOR_FAILURE appears—what now?

The USB controller cannot enumerate the tablet. Try another cable or port, shorten cable length, and use a USB 2.0 hub [Elektroda, billy1979, post #18213020]

Is there a risk of bricking the tablet?

Spreadtrum’s recovery ROM stays protected; verified .pac flashes show < 5 % brick rate [“Spreadtrum Service Bulletin”, 2019]. Keep battery above 30 %.

What if the tablet boots into Safe Mode instead?

VOL+ + VOL– while turning on, but without USB, triggers Safe Mode [Elektroda, sudido, post #17122934] Add USB after holding buttons to enter flash mode.

Three-step quick how-to for clean flashing?

  1. Install USBrwSCI driver, reboot PC.
  2. Load Qualcore 1020.pac into UpgradeDownload, click Start.
  3. Hold VOL+ + VOL–, connect USB, wait for green Passed bar.
