Hello, I lost my 2008 Altea XL key. I would like to add a new immo to myself, PIN I downloaded VAG TACHO (5 digits), I already have the milled pilot bought and fitted (opens, closes, etc.), the predecoded transporder also I already have Megamos Crypto ID48 TP22. And the problem is that as soon as I connect VCDSem to Immo and enter the PIN - of course he accepts me. Then I give adaptation and there only 2 channels 01 and 02 available. In channel 01 I have "adaptation key". all the descriptions that I found are that the key adaptation is in channel 21 and I have 01. Anyway, as read and show me that two keys are programmed and give 0 then test and save it looks like it's ok but I don't really like reset and still remains 2. and as I type 2 and give test and save and of course, I put the keys in order, i.e. the one that works and then the new one is not programmed. I have the impression that although I enter immo, I do not have write permission. Anyone know if I can do this in my seat using VCDS? Maybe I'm doing something wrong. do you have any idea
Screenshots from vcds and vag tacho are attached

It can't be done, you need to have another meter cable, you need to read the s-key from the meter.

What cable do I need to read this s-key? Maybe it would be worth it to buy it and do it myself.

At 600 zeta, it's actually better to outsource. And why without this s-key I am not able to add a VCDS transponder knowing the PIN? There are so many descriptions on the net that you can and I can't at my place in Seat

I can't add a new key without the s-key? So many people add it with vcdsem, of course, having a PIN. Maybe someone else will tell me something.

S-key is seed key? reading the description of VAGdashCAN theoretically I will do it with this cable. And in practice I can do it? I would like to program this key myself, because if I do it once, then I will add myself to a VW Caddy and besides, I'm just looking for a car for my wife and maybe there I will also need to add a key. Vag Dash CANA can be purchased at affordable price on alliexpress.

Made without buying expensive cables and without ordering services at the plant, where the keys are made. I close the topic

I believe that the forum is to help each other, so I do not intend to hide the solution. VagTacho 5.0 with alliexpres did the trick, first read the PIN with it and then added a new key. Earlier I didn't want to use VagTacho to add just to read the PIN, but I decided that it would try and it took me 1 minute and the key added.

This is because altea xl does not use so-called Dealer key, which requires 7 bytes of security component to be encoded. So a transponder precoded under the brand alone is enough.

SEATALTEA XL 2006- Transponder MEGAMOS Crypto ID48 CAN - precoded for SEAT ? JMA TP22

Strange, because the precode alone is not enough.

By. The catalog is enough. If it were otherwise, he would have to code the SC code with the tp22 precoded chip. And this clone won't do.

It is strange for me that he did, because I know that the pin does not go without cs. and I know it from experience not from catalogs or stories.

The fact is, the professionals didn't want to help. And that I'm stubborn I bit into the subject and succeeded. The guy who made my arrowhead and sold me a transponder also treated me like a moron, "that it's not that easy, I can't do it with a standard cable, that 7 byte and so" They take 400-500 zeta for such a key. And it cost me - 95 zeta VagTacho cable (thanks to him I made two keys, in altei and in audi a3 wife), 60 zeta key, original pocket knife, 40 PLN, tip and 40 transponder, like some original (I think I overpaid - I had to buy it on the allegro). And that's why they didn't want to share their knowledge so that their clients would not run away. Generally, my intention was to save, of course, but the main goal was to do it myself :)

Would you be willing to rent me VAG Tacho by mail for the weekend? I don't want to buy more cables anymore, because it would be a one-time action for me and I have the same problem with Seat ALTEA.
    greetings :)

So I understand that I won't do Altea XL 2008 anymore?

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the challenges faced in replacing a lost key for a 2008 Seat Altea XL. The user has obtained a PIN using VAG Tacho and has a predecoded Megamos Crypto ID48 TP22 transponder. However, they encounter issues with VCDS, where only two adaptation channels are available, and they cannot program the new key without an S-key. Various responses suggest that an additional cable is needed to read the S-key from the meter, and some users share their experiences of successfully programming keys using VAG Tacho. Ultimately, one user reports successfully adding a new key using VAG Tacho after reading the PIN, despite initial skepticism from professionals about the process.
