    Hello.
I ask for advice. I have a VW passata b5 1.8 20v 125km. The car is not gassed, only petrol. The problem is that on a cold engine the car smokes right away, without any problems. However, if the engine heats up a bit, it doesn't burn anymore. I can turn the key and nothing. Even on the pop will not light. The engine then turns nice, without problems but does not want to start. For example, once on a hot day I drove 80 km I parked and wanted to move the car and did not start. 7h later I get in and lit it immediately. I made 1km to gas stations and that's a problem. I tried a cake to the air intake, pushes and nothing ... And an hour later (in the meantime I tried to fire it many times) it fired as if nothing had happened. I am asking for advice on where to start? Currency sensor Fuel pump? Or maybe a coil or something else? Someone maybe had a similar case with this engine or this electrics?
Thank you for your advice and best regards

Start by checking what is missing when it doesn't smoke best from the tester level.

This case looks like this. Although the car fired without a problem, after connecting the VAG, it showed an error - "17927 - camshaft adjustment P1519 - 35-10 - fault - Sporadic". After unplugging the sensor at the valve and removing it, it turned out that the contacts have become dirty (gray coating). Especially the middle pin (3-pin connector) was heavily soiled and he was responsible for the signal and problems. Sensor to be replaced in the future.
I would like to point out that on a cold engine, it would start without problems even after it had cooled down. On warm time after repeated filming or not at all.
    Greetings and thanks Ireneo

My colleague in Audi 1.8 APT had it like that, something was probably wrong with some relay or something. Then I'll try to call him and let you know.

If there is no spark at the moment when I do not want to ignite, then from what I associate, there often ignited ignition modules, it should be at the right cup

As for this sensor in the front of the head near the timing cover, you can detach it yourself, the engine will work the same. I know I have this engine and I tried; P
I talked to a friend and his main computer relay broke down and the warm engine wouldn't start.
I recommend you check the vacuum bulb in the intake manifold and on the coil. As I washed the engine, I flooded it and fell, I bought a drug and my friend's coil broke and bought a new one for PLN 450 :)

As long as nothing happens, I do not move :) . I will go and if nothing happens for a month, I will let you know. And if there were problems again, I would check the relay. I solved this problem based on the computer. Because the fact that the relay disconnected is just an error pops up but the engine flies :) .

So after a month I can write what's going on. I admit that in the meantime I decided to replace the sensor (2 weeks ago) about which I wrote early. As we know from a week the temperature below 30 degrees does not drop during the day or at least at my place :) (a holiday would be useful: p). For now, the car drives and smokes without a problem and it seems that he was the cause of the problem.
    Greetings to you

    Added after 1 [minutes]:

And the sensor, of course, Bosch, and 230 PLN when it comes to costs

Eventually the cold solder on the relay was cracked. Relay near the computer under the hood. Corrected February in the relay.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a VW Passat B5 1.8 20v (2000) experiencing starting issues when the engine is warm. The owner reports that the car starts without problems when cold but fails to ignite after running and then parking. Various potential causes are explored, including a faulty camshaft adjustment sensor, ignition modules, relays, and vacuum issues. The owner eventually identifies a dirty sensor as the primary issue, which was resolved by replacing it with a Bosch part. Additionally, a cracked cold solder on a relay was noted as a contributing factor. The car now operates normally without smoke or starting problems.
