    Hello.
My problem concerns peugeot 407 1.6 hdi. After traveling 100km. Suddenly the tzu died out and the check was on (engine failure)
after unscrewing the filler cap, the top roll does not rotate when you start the starter. Is this a broken timing?
When turning to 2 revolutions the starter behaves normally, and still as if there was no compression. What could it be????
And what repairs are related to this.

If the belt has been broken, it is in addition to replacing the complete timing for replacing the valve arms. Valves usually do not damage. It is possible that the chain in the head has broken off.

The rollers are also 90% to be replaced, because the cams turn.

After 100km from what? Purchase? If so, the first step after buying a used car is to change the oil and timing. Well, unless we have some proof about the previous user doing this and there is still no time for these activities. If you have not done it then you have the effect.
As for the damage, it is probably to replace the timing drive plus the valves with their fit. Details and costs (SMEs will not) will determine the service. [/ Quote]

I bought a car 3 months ago. I exchanged oil and filters. The timing was 50,000. I drove about 5,000 and had to go on holiday and after 100 km it happened to me.

And the head needs to be disassembled and regenerated ???

First, you disassemble the timing to verify what happened. The next step is to disassemble the valve cover. There will be shown how many levers broke and whether the chain did not break up. We do not take off the head.

Is collision-free? Do the levers so bad?

It is as collisive as any modern diesel. The construction is such that there are delicate, fragile levers that break during the collision of valves with a piston. This is an advantage.

I solved the problem of engine collision.
Namely, after removing the cover of the head, the valve arms were broken (broken), the head and valves were not damaged.
After replacing the timing, water pump, oil pump and of course the levers, the engine started but did not work as it should.
After connecting to the computer, it turned out that 2 injections do not work as they should (pour).
So I regenerated these injections and the car works as it should, I've traveled 2 thousand kilometers and everything is ok.
Thanks for your answers to my questions.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a Peugeot 407 1.6 HDI experiencing engine failure after a 100 km drive. The user reported that the engine died suddenly, with the timing belt possibly broken, as the top roll did not rotate upon starting. Responses indicated that if the timing belt is broken, it may require replacing the complete timing system and valve arms, although valves typically remain undamaged. The user confirmed that after inspecting the engine, broken valve arms were found, but the head and valves were intact. Following the replacement of the timing system, water pump, oil pump, and levers, the engine started but had issues with two injectors. After regenerating the injectors, the vehicle functioned properly, and the user reported successful operation over 2,000 kilometers.
