Hi,
For several years I have been the owner of 100 Mb / s fiber-optic internet from Netia - as I assumed it was still Dialog, but then Netia bought them. The connection is OK after the cable, it actually reaches 100 or almost 100 mb, while via wi-fi there have always been problems. Recently, speeds are unstable and much lower than expected (from 15 to 40 Mb / s) which is probably due to an old / poor router. For example, files from a corporate FTP server do not download faster than 2MB per second. I would like to buy a router that will allow me to use the full (or almost full) speed of my connection. I admit I'm green on this topic, but I'll try to describe what it looks like:
The Internet is connected in such a way that from the box in the staircase I have a fiber optic cable (so thin yellow) led to my apartment. This cable goes to the Alcatel Lucent modem which in turn connects via an ethernet cable to my current TP Link router: TL-WR740N,
I have an Intel (R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 network card in my laptop. From what I know, it's probably a pretty good card, with 2.4 and 5 GHz support.
Now the question is what to buy?
I live in a block of flats, the signal from the router must pass through a maximum of 2 not very thick walls (construction from the times of Gierek), so maybe it's worth investing in a router with 5Ghz support? Anything else to pay attention to? Maybe you have any specific models that you recommend? I don't want to take all this Netiaspot, I would prefer some independent hardware. Thank you in advance for your help. best regards
