    Hello.

I have a problem with the D-Link DWR-921 router configuration.
Well, I launched and configured the network and the router worked 4 weeks ago. Later, I went on vacation from a place where it is difficult to reach and took the router with me to check if it works. He didn't catch the signal so I put it aside.

After returning home, I wanted to restart it, but here a problem arose. The red LED on the signal strength lights up / flashes on the router. It's hard for me not to have coverage almost in the center of a large city. I reset the router, went through the configuration process again, but the LED still flashes. In the router settings there is a button for searching the network by the router and here my surprise because the router does not find any network in range (I remind you I live almost in the center of a large city).

Maybe someone encountered a similar problem? Maybe someone has this router configured for PLAY and would be able to send some network configuration dumps? Maybe anyone knows what the network settings should be, maybe I run the data manually?

    Please help.

First, transfer the card to the phone and check if it is "alive" - if it was prepaid, it could have expired.

If the OK card is in the router I suggest to restore the factory settings and do the configuration again.

The card is subscription-based and works in iPad. Reconfiguration (I've done 10 times) doesn't help.

For Play APN this is the internet and if there is coverage then DWR-921 should connect to the internet. Where does this historic DWR-921 come from?

The origin of the router is rather irrelevant here, because there was a time when it worked normally.

Antennas connected in a reliable way?

Depending on the operator, these routers have different FWs. In the configuration you need to choose the appropriate WAN port configuration, in your case the LTE / 3G modem plays the role of WAN. For this profile with the appropriate APN for Play, the preferred type of LTE or 3G network and should work. Requires 3G / LTE Play home network coverage if it is an internet subscription.

Topic summary

The user is experiencing configuration issues with the D-Link DWR-921 router after it failed to reconnect to the PLAY network upon returning from vacation. Despite multiple resets and reconfigurations, the router's red LED indicating signal strength continues to flash, and it cannot detect any networks in a densely populated urban area. Suggestions from other users include checking the SIM card's functionality, ensuring proper antenna connections, and verifying the correct WAN port configuration for LTE/3G with the appropriate APN settings for PLAY. The user confirmed that the SIM card is subscription-based and functional in another device, indicating that the issue lies with the router's configuration or hardware.
