Hello, win xp is installed on the disk. I would like to transfer the disk to a second laptop, but at startup I get the message: "A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart". The disk on another laptop works and starts without a problem. There are default settings in the bios, it reads the disk first. What may be the problem? Is it still guilty of the disk or the laptop despite working on another laptop? How to fix it? I will add that when inserting another disk there is no such problem.

    Bios correctly detects the disk?

Are you trying to boot from this disk installed on another computer?

Yes, the BIOS can see it. In another laptop, the disk is working properly and the system starts up.

So on the new configuration the same system does not have to work properly.

I think so too, probably drivers or bios. I did this: it is not known why there were errors when I wanted to install the system on this "non-working" laptop HP 530 so I rescheduled the disk and installed it on my laptop acer travelmate 5744. I also wonder why the same message pops up when I insert a working xp installation plate and when inserting win 7 is already normal (only when unpacking error pops up so I chose xp)

    Added after 3 [minutes]:

I might add that the error code when installing win 7 (then I also tried win 8 and the same) is 0x8007045d (I installed this media on my laptop without a problem).

Problem solved. I installed win7 on xp on Acer, then moved the disk from win7 to hp and everything runs and works. Thanks @ sylvi91 for interest.
Error code 0x8007045d really "supposedly" means a media error but on every other computer there is no such problem (by the way I installed the 7 media from the same media, which now blinks beautifully) something is probably wrong with this computer, but it doesn't matter anymore xD
    I'm closing the topic

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a user experiencing a "disk read error" when transferring a Windows XP disk to a second laptop, despite the disk functioning properly on another machine. The BIOS detects the disk, but the user encounters issues booting from it on the new laptop. Responses suggest that hardware compatibility, BIOS settings (such as IDE/AHCI mode), and missing drivers may be contributing factors. Ultimately, the user resolved the issue by installing Windows 7 on the disk while in the Acer laptop, then transferring it to the HP laptop, where it successfully booted.
