    Hello !

I have already looked for answers to this problem on various forums but unfortunately I did not find ...

I currently have two computers and recently wanted to install an operating system on this older one. At the beginning I installed win 10, unfortunately it turned out to be too demanding for the computer, so I decided to install win xp and that's where the problem started ...
the old computer is a Dell optiplex gx 620 with an intel d 920 processor and some samsung 80gb SATA disk.

I started normally from installing from a windows CD, unfortunately the cd-rom didn't even read it. I made a disc image on a pendrive and the installation started here, unfortunately after unpacking the installation components, a blue screen appears with the error 0x0000007B.
Then I took the hard drive out of the old computer and installed it in the new one. I formatted the disk from the old computer (it had win 10) and started installing XP on the old disk using a newer computer. There, unfortunately, he did not want to boot from the disc, although after booting the system he sees it normally and I have access to its contents. After trying with a USB flash drive, the installation on the new computer works but does not see the hard drive from the old computer, even though the drive is visible in the connected hardware and I can access its contents after booting the system. Disconnecting both SSD with windows and HDD and connecting the HDD from the old computer does not help either. When installing from the disc with the system turned on, it says that it cannot be installed because the program will not work in the 64 bit system. I don't know what else I can do to install XP on the old computer.

    Thank you for your answer.
Honestly, I didn't know about these GPT and MBR disks. I formatted the HDD that XP wants to install on. Is it MBR after the format? If not then how to make MBR?
I read about IDE and AHCI, unfortunately in the BIOS, I did not find such settings and I searched it thoroughly ...
Tried installing with both FAT and NTFS, unfortunately it doesn't go from this or that :(

    PS
Partition WIzard shows all disks as MBR, the one with Windows 10 too.

The BIOS looks like the picture below. I tried with the "combination" option but it didn't help.

It would be nice to integrate the driver with the system or install it with FDD during installation.

What driver and how to integrate? I tried to integrate the sata disk drivers with the windows install using nlite but it was impossible ...
I installed windows on this newer computer, changing the BIOS settings from AHCI to IDE. Unfortunately, after relocating the disk to the old computer, drivers were missing, so neither the keyboard nor the mouse worked. When trying to repair the system, windows started popping up with commands and information that there is no access to some files ...
Now I will try to burn the disc with windows xp sp2.

I will be very grateful for the ready install with drivers ;)
I couldn't do what they advise on expressit because the driver base is torrent and I don't want to download (no peers).
I did what on programs but it did not work ... I do not burn CDs, I create instalks with the WinSetupFromUSB program and try to install from USB because the reader does not want to read Windows CDs: / Does it make CD-USB differences?

    PS.
On F6, the computer does not respond at all and at a later stage of the installation requires a floppy disk with drivers. Can you do something about it? Currently, I copied the files from the disc using nlite to the folder on the desktop, I attached the drivers to the files in this folder (also using nlite) and then recorded it on a USB flash drive using WinSetupFromUSB. Am I doing something wrong or is something missing?

It is exactly like Spoak writes and do not mess around, because it will be of no avail.

Unless you want to add them to Xp by yourself using, for example, NLite, I think, but why if they are, install to, download.

Unfortunately, there was no PW from Szpoak. This morning I got links from kiko80 on PW, for which thank you very much. Ready installations did not give me anything, the same error as on my board, so apparently you can't install xp there; s
I installed the system by transferring the disk to a newer computer, which can be changed to IDE in bios, and then after transferring back to an older computer, I installed the drivers manually and somehow it works ... unfortunately it was impossible otherwise.

    A steak of crap:

These normal ones can be considered AHCI

GX620 this is the equipment where XP was originally; if the boot is not set up correctly, the optical drive is ailing
Since the SATA controller is in the ICH7, there is no AHCI.

@Wirtuozz - still struggle with the pendrive but first replace the NTDETECT.COM file on it with this one:

Exactly that you have to combine sometimes and even the effects are:

The computer works, but it was impossible to install XP on it, I had to transfer the disk to another computer and install the system there, which is risky because windows will not work in every case. I just succeeded, but it is not known whether XP will work 100% as it should and probably not everyone will have such a method ...
It's true, the gx620 had Xp ex factory, I also have CDs for it with dell's Xp. In fact, I do not know why windows do not want to be installed now. As for the discs, the drive reads all except those with windows ... I also do not know why ... maybe it is something with the OEM version ?? That's why I was "tired" of the flash drive. The installation started from the pendrive but ended with a blue screen.
For now, the system works and it's ok after installing the drivers manually, but thanks for another hint, maybe it will be useful to me or someone else who will look here ;)

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around troubleshooting the installation of Windows XP on a Dell Optiplex GX620, which encounters a blue screen error (0x0000007B). The user initially attempted to install Windows 10 but found it too demanding for the hardware. After switching to Windows XP, issues arose with the CD-ROM not reading the installation media, leading to the use of a USB flash drive. The error 0x0000007B is attributed to the need for an MBR disk format instead of GPT, and the requirement for IDE mode in the BIOS settings, as the system defaults to AHCI. Various suggestions include using Partition Manager to format the disk to NTFS, integrating SATA drivers into the installation media, and ensuring the correct BIOS settings are applied. Ultimately, the user managed to install XP by first setting up the disk on a newer computer configured to IDE mode and then transferring it back to the older system, although concerns about driver compatibility and system stability remain.
