Hello, the check lamp went on and the error P0420 appeared, the previous owner said that he had a problem with the clogged catalyst and I think that the same is happening now. Therefore, I have a question whether you can cut the catalyst without consequences for the car, and maybe someone has other ideas than to buy a new catalyst.

Hello, I suggest you remove this error from the table in the controller and possibly open the catalyst or replace it with a jet pump.

You can also take the wrong operation of the lambda probe behind the catalytic converter (check how oscillates.) From what I understand, there are two options:
1. New catalyst - or not burnt and not clogged
2. The orchard emulator behind the catalyst - although I read that it does not always help.

If the probe did not work then you would have a mistake about it, here the problem is that the driver sees the same exhaust composition before and after the catalytic converter.
More than once I had contact with a clogged catalyst or burned out, and this error always concerned the spent one.
If the catalyst is blocked, the engine has no power, the combustion rises and there is silence in the back because the silencer just smokes exhaust fumes.
You want to look at the oscillation of the probe, compare it with the oscillation from the first probe (if the first one is not broadband).

It helped to replace the probe with a new one only a little better than the Chinese one, I imported from the US, cost about PLN 200 with shipment, customs and tax.
