    Hello.

I want to let the cable from the neighbor 20m from the garage to the sub-meter. The cable will be attached to the handles and routed along the garage wall under the gutter. The question is: what cable to use - wire or cord? Of course, it is a year-long period.

Thank you in advance for your reply, best regards.

As a permanent connection is used as you called "wire"
However, more important are other parameters, its cross-section, number of wires and type of cable.

The question is why this cable? Will it be for powering something or for the Internet, or maybe for a camera? anyway i would use a wire. such as black soil, e.g. YKY 3x1.5mm. Write something more about using this cable.

In the garage I use small power tools - 200w hairpins, 620w jigsaws and 130w dremel + lighting.

2 or 3-wire cable (the neighbor has electricity from the apartment to the garage, where we have old installations in the apartment ... so if he did not make a new installation then 2 wires, if he did 3) cross-section 1.5.

The neighbor suggested a line, although I don't know why.

The cable will be more expensive and requires sleeves at the end. The so-called ground cable (black) e.g. YKY 3x2.5mm is more resistant to external conditions.

It should already be 3x2.5mm?. Why three wires, new installations are supposed to have it. The new installation should already be 3x x and 2.5mm? just in case you need more power.

Not so just in case - only 2.5 square millimeter sockets ...

Just in case I would put 4x10mm ;-)

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the choice of cable for a 20m connection from a garage to a sub-meter, with considerations for year-round use. Participants suggest using a wire, specifically recommending a YKY 3x1.5mm or YKY 3x2.5mm cable, depending on the power requirements of tools used in the garage, such as hairpins, jigsaws, and dremels. The importance of cable cross-section, number of wires, and resistance to external conditions is emphasized. There is a debate on whether a 2-wire or 3-wire configuration is necessary, with suggestions leaning towards a 3-wire setup for new installations to accommodate potential power needs.
