    Hello!
The mechanic completed the oil in the gearbox in the car:
    clio 2 1.2 16v 2002
The manufacturer provides 75w80 gl-4 oil and 75w90 gl-5 was poured. The mechanic assures me that there should not be a problem, but I prefer to be sure, because gl-4 and gl-5 differ in additions. The box in the car is manual JB. Thank you for your help. greetings

GL-5 can react with the bronze alloys from which the synchronisers are made. The GL-4 is safer for the chest.

Manual transmission, so there will be no problem. As for the oil, you got better oil - the one with 90 has a higher viscosity at high temperatures. The gearbox is not an engine so there is no need to care about the oil, it is important that it is and not work dry.

Ok, I would rather change this oil. As for the current elf released oil nfj 75w80 GL4 +, is he also correct? And what in this case with oils where there is no GL 4 only GL 5 and in the specification is written that it meets the standards GL5 / GL4 (such as revline). GL5 is also recommended for crates but it was not my producer's prediction, so do not write nonsense that it is better for crates (since the manufacturer can only predict oil with GL5 specification). greetings

Yes I know that the oil has been poured out better, I mean more about the Gl5 and Gl4 standards. I am waiting for further comments, best regards ;)

GL-4 + is the most correct for this chest. If the manufacturer anticipates oil GL-5 for the box, it clearly indicates that there are also boxes in which engine oil is used. You just pour what the manufacturer recommends.

So to relax the atmosphere. It is important to pour the original oil and not only pay for it. It is true that here they are motorized but with gearboxes it is similar because they are more expensive and for higher mileage.

Of course, you're right, that's why it's worth buying from trusted places, where they have a physical place and you get a real product and you still have another thousand oils sold. I do not know where these counterfeit oils come from, the largest number of bought oil counterfeits happens in small automotive stores, not in large wholesale stores. As for the intercars, prices are there with a large margin, if you have a contract with the IC, you have the wholesale oil prices for an amount similar to allegro. Allegro sales are maintained only on small margins, where IC does not have the right to exist, therefore these oils are cheaper as well as the rest of the parts. greetings

The oil in the box has been replaced with the recommended by the manufacturer (shell spirax 75w80 GL4 from the official distribution), the chest works better in my opinion, came about 3.3 liters (according to the Renault enter 3.4l). greetings

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the appropriate transmission oil for a 2002 Renault Clio 2 1.2 16V with a manual JB gearbox. The user expressed concern after a mechanic filled the gearbox with 75W90 GL-5 oil instead of the manufacturer-recommended 75W80 GL-4. Responses highlighted that GL-5 oil could potentially react negatively with the bronze alloys in synchronizers, making GL-4 a safer choice. Some participants noted that while GL-5 has higher viscosity at elevated temperatures, it is essential to adhere to manufacturer specifications. The user later confirmed replacing the oil with Shell Spirax 75W80 GL-4, which improved gearbox performance. The importance of using original oils from trusted sources was also emphasized to avoid counterfeit products.
