You will unfortunately heat larger elements with a burner or in an oven :P Do you take it easy ... depending on what you will weld - air conditioning will rather be a challenge at the beginning.

    Hello!

Colleague H3nry meant by heating larger elements that when welding aluminum with the Tig method, large amperes are used depending on the thickness of the material, and therefore the amount of heat introduced into the material for its melting will depend on its thickness and size. If you have to repair a crack in an aluminum engine block or cylinder head, the amperage range will be important in your TIG. If it is too small, then the welded material is heated so that you obtain the melting or bonding of the material in the shortest possible time, without exposing the welder to long-term work. Tig welders have a gas- and water-cooled torch. The former are fine for fine welding and short welding cycles, while the latter are suitable for heavy and continuous long welds.

Unfortunately, this money cannot buy even a good MMA welder, not to mention TIG. Take what is cheaper and that's it. In the Shermans, the properly programmed system "broke" the welder immediately after the warranty expired. The service repaired it by sending a new board for only ~ 600-800 PLN. I don't know what it looks like now. As for the equipment itself, the duty cycle in this welder and the current itself with a 1f power supply is a joke, do not take it seriously.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around selecting a TIG welder for home use within a budget of PLN 2,000-2,500. The Sherman Tig MMA 201 AC/DC is mentioned as a potential option, with users affirming its suitability for aluminum welding, although caution is advised regarding its power limitations for larger elements. Concerns are raised about the durability and service issues of Sherman welders, particularly regarding the duty cycle and potential repairs after warranty expiration. An alternative model, the Magnum TIG THF 235 Puls AC/DC, is suggested for better performance. The importance of amperage for welding thicker materials and the choice between gas-cooled and water-cooled torches is also discussed.
