Hello. I measured the voltage to mass like ok. The flow meter was from Mercedes so I decided to buy a new one. On the new one the same mistake. I checked exactly according to this: https://obrazki.elektroda.pl/7157574400_1307541852.jpg
2 to 12V and 2 to 3 2.2V, i.e. brown-blue cable. There is cable continuity to the ECU plug, but there is no transition between 4 and 1 and 27 (ground) in the ECU itself. Someone will tell me before I dismantle the ECU, is terminal 4 of the controller a clean mass and look for cold solder or something else fell?

Hello. But as between 4 and 1 as the first one is free and 4 is 5V.

This measurement was on the ECU pins alone with the large plug disconnected. Pins 1 and 27 are the mass of the ECU.

Pin 4 of the controller is the third on the flow meter, it is not a direct mass and there will be no transition between pins 4 and 1.

Maybe it is so that the mass appears, some other condition must be met? Repair or look for another driver?

This is not how it works, there is a problem with the driver. You can't fix anything there.

Buddy pin 4 on the controller is + 5v then why should you have a transition with pins 1 and 27.
The mass for the flow goes from pin 52 on the controller to a 5 pin plug.
    Plug for flow meter 2 - 12v
    3 - 5v
    4 - signal
    5 - mass

I look at the available diagrams and analyze. If 2 to ground is to be 12V and 2 to 3 is to be 12V, it cannot be 5V. The cable was called and there is a transition of 3 MAF plugs to 4 ECUs.

Do not measure 2 to 3 only 2 to mass and 3 to mass.

I read similar posts and see that there are two types of voltage measurements on the flowmeter plug, e.g. https://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic563581.html#2911851 and the second in the post above. It is not the same. I wonder what is damaged and what is wrongly chosen? I had Pierburg 7.22684.07 and now the new 7.22684.18.0. Are their leads the same? Can substitute another driver only or does it match?
Audi A4 B5 AFN 98' - Flow Meter Error 553: Voltage Measurement, Mercedes Meter & ECU Issues

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a voltage measurement issue related to the flow meter in an Audi A4 B5 AFN 98'. The user initially replaced a Mercedes flow meter but continued to encounter error 553. Measurements indicated that pin 4 of the ECU provides +5V, while pins 1 and 27 serve as ground. There is confusion regarding the correct voltage readings and the functionality of the flow meter, with suggestions that pin 4 is not a direct ground and that proper conditions must be met for the mass to appear. The user also inquired about compatibility between different flow meter models, specifically Pierburg 7.22684.07 and 7.22684.18.0, and whether another driver could be substituted. The conversation highlights the importance of accurate voltage measurements and the potential need for further diagnosis of the ECU or flow meter compatibility.
