Ferguson Regent TV7 Tablet - Red Screem, Freezing, Unresponsive Hard Reset & Wipe Data

Best answers

How can I recover a tablet that freezes on a red screen and gets stuck during hard reset/factory wipe?

A normal wipe is not enough here; the tablet likely needs a firmware reflash, preferably by forcing it into bootloader mode and using the Amlogic tools or SD-card boot method [#16785334][#16786576][#16786967] First, try to get the device detected as M6-CHIP/WorldCup Device by holding POWER + VOLUME+ while connecting USB and pressing the reset button for about 5 seconds, then install the driver [#16785334] In the burning tool, import the firmware update.zip and then import the matching config_progress.xml file; if the options appear, you can start the process, or try the erase NAND option if needed [#16786576] If that still fails, create a boot SD card with BootcardMaker using u-boot.bin, copy all TV7 files to the microSD, insert it into the tablet, and boot from it until the green Android and progress bar appear [#16786967] Also make sure the battery is fully charged to about 4.20 V, because a low battery can cause flashing/boot problems [#16787280]

    Hello,

I have a problem with the above-mentioned tablet.
System does not start, freezes while booting (red screen).
Unfortunately, hard reset (vol + & POWER -> wipe data / factory reset) does not work.
    After starting, there is only:

    - Wiping data ...
    Formating / data ...
    and nothing else happens.

I waited about 3 hours (in case it needed that much for this format) but from what I saw it should take about a few seconds. I have tried a dozen times.
    What could this mean?

Maybe someone will help me bring him back to life?

You were looking for the firmware manufacturer's website, did you not feel like it?

The subject of the electrode is repeatedly recommended to carefully check the already discussed themes .

Unfortunately, but I wanted to, I have been working on it for the second day.
There is no firmware on the manufacturer's website or I cannot find it.
I read all the topics on the electrode ... they have links to files, but they are out of date.
And yes, the subject has been patted several times, but nothing comes of this patting. All I found out was that I probably need this:

    M1701_ferguson-HW.V2.0-2.4-20131024

and i only have one problem - i can't find it

Thank you very much for the files :)
Unfortunately, nothing comes of it. I don't know if I'm doing it right.
    I fire up AmlogicBurningTool
File -> Import Upgrade File indicates update.zip from the unpacked Regent TV7 archive
and after about 20 seconds it receives the following message:
"find no update config, please load it manually"
The tablet is turned on (as much as it can) - i.e. it is hanging on the charging screen
My system (Windows10) sees it as 2 USB drives that cannot be entered

    I could also translate but,
Will it be a big indiscretion on my part if I admit that I don't know what's going on?

Enter the tablet into bootloader mode so that it detects the tablet as M6-CHIP and then install the drivers from the attachment. After the drivers are installed, the device will appear as WorldCup Device.
I do not know how it will be in your tablet, but try to do so, press the POWER + VOLUME + buttons and hold do not let go, now connect the USB cable and press the reset button on the tablet for 5 seconds. Keep holding these two buttons until the bootloader grabs.

Bootloader won't start for any treasures, I was looking for some other combinations on the net but no effect

in the meantime, I launched the update from the sd card and such effects:

    - Install / sdcard ...
    Finding update package ...
    Opening update package ...
    Verifying update package ...
    Installing update ...

    and after a minute
    assert failed:! less_than_int (1381381288. getprop ("ro.build.date.utc"))
    Installation aborted

    :D
I must admit that I don't know what the hell actually happened. This is not a language known to the average truck driver who tries to fix a tablet with 3 navigations. I don't know if starting the update.zip file from the card had any chance of success. unfortunately it's my first time trying to do anything with Android and I'm completely green on this topic.

I wonder why wipe data / factory reset did not work? Maybe the memory of the tablet is physically damaged and any attempts to fix the software are just a waste of time?

I took the tablet apart, unplugged the battery, and then started it wipe data / factory reset which was successful !!!!
Unfortunately, after restarting the device, nothing has changed, it still stops when loading a wipe data / factory reset not working again.

Take a picture with no blur as clear from the center of the motherboard.

    Added after 55 [minutes]:

Coming back to the program to be sure about the procedure:
    1) You connect the tablet to the usb
    2) You run ImageBurnTool.exe
    3) From the menu select FILE -> Import Upgrade File and from the directory select the update.zip file
    4) The update.zip file is loading
    5) From the menu, select FILE -> Import Config File and again from the Regent TV7 directory, select the config_progress.xml file

And now do you have these selected elements active as in the picture below?
Ferguson Regent TV7 Tablet - Red Screem, Freezing, Unresponsive Hard Reset & Wipe Data

If so, you can give START, as if there was still a problem, select on the right
    Erase old system ...
    erase nand

But if you don't see these ticked options, I will instruct you on what to do after uploading the CD photo.

    Everything ok until point 3
When I try to load update.zip after about 20 seconds, it pops up:

Ferguson Regent TV7 Tablet - Red Screem, Freezing, Unresponsive Hard Reset & Wipe Data

    motherboard pictures:

Ferguson Regent TV7 Tablet - Red Screem, Freezing, Unresponsive Hard Reset & Wipe Data

I don't know if that was it, at least you don't see any overheating or discoloration

Rather, I mean the view from the other side, where you can see the components.

For now, let's try another way - download the file from the Amlogic_SDcardMaker attachment and unpack it.
If you have a micro SD card, plug it into the reader and connect it to the USB and check the drive letter it detected under.

Run BootcardMaker.exe from the extracted file
Choose your micro sd disk (don't make a mistake how wrong you choose it, you can free up the boot partition on the disk). Once selected, select YES, click on open and select the u-boot.bin file and click MAKE.
Close the program and now copy all files from the Regent TV7 directory to the card. Remove the card, put it into the tablet and start it or press the reset button, after some time, the automatic upload should start, a green android people will appear and a progress bar.

I did exactly according to the instructions.
The tablet fired with an animated green android robot with open guts and an animated progress bar and it has been spinning for an hour and a half. I'll wait two more :) but I think I've given up hope.

In fact, I'm out of time. Unfortunately, work is also needed (maybe not in itself, but its side effect - payment :D ), maybe when I come back in a week I will try something else.
I am extremely grateful for your help. It didn't work, well, it's hard. Maybe if not for me, then someone else will find your advice and my scribble useful.
    Thank you and best regards.

Charge the battery so that it has the 4.20V. Sometimes a low battery condition can cause these problems, but eventually some memory problem. And the last resort is when this green guy shows up to you, check if you hook a tablet to the PC and if the system detects it. If so, the earlier method should work.

It's time to enlarge the pile of electro-waste with it :|

    Thank you, greetings and closing

FAQ

TL;DR: To fix a Ferguson Regent TV7 stuck on a red boot screen, reflash via Amlogic tools; “press the reset button on the tablet for 5 seconds” to enter bootloader. [Elektroda, gradek83, post #16785334]

Why it matters: This guide helps owners recover an unresponsive Regent TV7 without guesswork, using steps proven in the thread.

Quick Facts

How do I fix a Regent TV7 stuck on a red screen or freezing at boot?

Enter bootloader and reflash using Amlogic ImageBurnTool. Connect USB, then hold POWER + VOLUME+, and press RESET for 5 seconds. Windows should show M6-CHIP/WorldCup Device. Import the firmware’s upgrade file and config, then Start. If needed, enable “Erase NAND.” [Elektroda, gradek83, post #16785334]

Why does factory reset hang at “Wiping data… Formatting /data…”?

This behavior indicates storage access problems. The user reported waiting 3 hours without completion, which exceeds normal reset time. Reflashing or erasing NAND via the burning tool is recommended if reset never finishes. [Elektroda, landar, post #16784020]

AmlogicBurningTool says “find no update config, please load it manually.” What now?

Load the configuration explicitly. In the tool, choose File → Import Config File, then select config_progress.xml from the firmware directory. After importing, retry the upgrade. [Elektroda, gradek83, post #16785232]

How do I enter bootloader mode (M6-CHIP / WorldCup Device) on this tablet?

Hold POWER + VOLUME+ continuously. While holding, connect USB and press the tablet’s RESET for 5 seconds. After drivers install, Windows labels it WorldCup Device. “Keep holding these two buttons until the bootloader grabs.” [Elektroda, gradek83, post #16785334]

Windows shows two unreadable USB drives when I plug the tablet in. Is that normal?

Yes during failure states. The tablet can enumerate as two USB storages that are inaccessible when the system is corrupted. Proceed with bootloader entry and flashing instead of browsing those drives. [Elektroda, landar, post #16785125]

Can I flash from microSD if USB flashing fails?

Yes. Prepare an SD boot card with BootcardMaker and u-boot.bin, then copy the Regent TV7 files. Insert the card and reboot; a green Android and progress bar indicate auto-flash.
  1. Run BootcardMaker and select your SD.
  2. Load u-boot.bin, click MAKE.
  3. Copy firmware files, insert card, reboot tablet. [Elektroda, gradek83, post #16786967]

The green Android progress ran for 1.5 hours. Is that a bad sign?

Yes. Prolonged progress animation without completion suggests power or storage issues. The user reported 1.5 hours with no finish, which is abnormal. Recharge fully and retry, or switch to USB flashing. [Elektroda, landar, post #16787263]

Why did update.zip from SD abort with “assert failed: !less_than_int(getprop('ro.build.date.utc'))”?

The package’s build date check failed. This assert blocks downgrades or mismatched builds. Use the exact firmware build for your hardware revision and retry. [Elektroda, landar, post #16786072]

Do I need a specific battery level before flashing?

Yes. “Charge the battery so that it has the 4.20V.” Low voltage can stall or corrupt flashing. After the green Android appears, also try connecting to PC; detection improves success. [Elektroda, gradek83, post #16787280]

Where can I get the correct Regent TV7 firmware?

The original links were stale, and a moderator reuploaded the files in-thread. Check the thread’s updated links or request a reupload when needed. [Elektroda, Freddy, post #16784802]

What do “WorldCup Device” and “M6-CHIP” mean in Device Manager?

They identify the tablet’s Amlogic bootloader state. When drivers load correctly, Windows lists the device as WorldCup Device, and tools show M6-CHIP, confirming bootloader access. [Elektroda, gradek83, post #16785334]

When should I stop troubleshooting and recycle the tablet?

If bootloader never appears, resets hang, SD and USB flashing both fail, and asserts persist, the main storage may be defective. The thread author ultimately retired the device. [Elektroda, landar, post #16847890]
