    Hello,

I moved the folder with photos from the phone's memory (Samsung S8) to the memory card (Sandisk Ultra 32GB class 10). The operation ended flawlessly, but I cannot view the photos on the card - there is an exclamation point icon.
    - They also cannot be displayed by inserting the SD card into the computer.
    - Windows does not display files even after transferring files to the computer.
    - Apart from this "damaged" folder, the SD card works fine, scandisc, bug fixes did not improve.
    - The files are the correct size but will not open.

I attach two of them to the post. Is there a chance to recover these photos?
    Please help :|

    best regards
    Robert

It only seems like this to you.
These are not image files, and you won't recover anything from them.

Remember for the future that files are copied, not moved, and after checking for readability, they are only deleted from the source medium.

    Too bad

And tell me, are you aware of the possibility of recovering them directly from the phone's memory? I have been trying to save nothing in his memory since then.
These photos are a family heirloom, and I'm willing to invest in getting those files back.

First of all, no "trying", only you have do not use the phone and turn it off because whatever you do with it reduces the chances of data recovery.

Try the reverse operation: copy files from the card to the phone. The phone should display, although there is no warranty.

They're probably encrypted, with the phone's algorithm, so you don't think you're the owner of the photos. Belief in data recoverers is good for those who have too much money.
Until now, Sony (Ericcson) and the monopoly both excelled at pissing off users. You can see Samsung has joined.
You have there, probably soft from Samsung for PC, maybe it will open.

    Thanks for the vote

an interesting idea, only if it does not bring a positive effect, then by saving such a lot of photos in the phone's memory I will reduce the chance of data recovery by the laboratory :|
    Hmmm ... unless I test on 1-2 pieces ...

    An idiotic idea because

And you will lose more of them in the phone, because it is not known in which OS memory cells the phone will save.

    Okay, I found out.
I copied 2 photos, the phone does not read them.
I will report to some lab.

For now, thank you for the discussion, I will leave the topic open if someone would like to speak again.

    Best regards!

What will my friend report to the lab? Nothing can be recovered from the copied photos, only possibly from the phone. And don't run it anymore.

    Hi,

it's unbelievable, but the photos actually ended up in your google account!
I didn't even think about putting a backup there. Thanks a lot! :D (please give the address on PW, I'll send you a bottle :) )

I did not go to the lab, because, as mentioned by mati211p, recovery from the card was not possible, but it seemed unlikely to me from the phone, due to the fact that the phone had been used for several days from the occurrence of this problem. So, the topic has already dropped ... and here is such a nice surprise :)

Thanks to everyone for participating in the discussion.
    I close the topic.

    best regards

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a user who transferred photos from a Samsung S8 to a Sandisk Ultra 32GB Class 10 memory card, only to find the photos unviewable and marked with an exclamation point. Despite the transfer appearing successful, the files could not be accessed on either the SD card or a computer. Various responses suggested that the files might not be actual image files, and recovery attempts should focus on the phone's internal memory rather than the card. Users advised against using the phone further to maximize recovery chances and recommended checking for backups in Google Photos. Ultimately, the user discovered that the photos were backed up in their Google account, resolving the issue without needing professional recovery services.
