    Hello,

today the contract in Orange has been extended, but unfortunately with the FunBox router - phone via internet + tv. Apart from tv for the moment because I have NC + but how to connect Funbox with sagemcom fast 2704 so that it works and telephone and internet via cable to PC and wifi network. I have a landline phone downstairs, while upstairs a desktop computer which was previously connected to Sagemcom by cable and the cells and laptops connected to Wifi.
From the bottom of the telephone socket I have a 4-wire cable for my room, and here the telephone cable is connected to the router from the socket. If I had this Funbox in the room and used two wires back down from Funbox to the phone would it work?

And would it be possible to somehow connect these two routers with each other to increase the range at home but so that the phone works?

Is the Funbox down and the cable up?

Thanks in advance for your answer. Regards.

I understand that you have VoIP on FunBox? I have a similar configuration at home. If you have 4 wires in a telephone cable, you can make the most of them. Two straight from the pole to Funbox, and another two return to landline phones (polarization matters).

The second issue is SagemCom. I also have this router and it does not go crazy. I recommend uploading OpenWrt LuCi but you need to be a little more knowledgeable. After uploading another firmware from the 4th LAN port it becomes WAN and can be connected to FunBox

Yes, until now I had a normally landline phone but today it doesn't work so I have to get it over with. I will try to do as you write.
As for SagemCom, it's not good, coverage is poor. I don't know how with this FunBox, I would like to improve the range at home. And you can not describe what to do with this software upload? Of course I read it myself.

First do VoIP, I was also tired of it ;) In Funbox you have the option of testing your phone, it can help when you connect because you do not need to call.

    And as for sagemcom:

I have a question about software, I didn't change it. I connected Sagemcom to Funbox, changed the IP address in the first one, turned off DHCP and works.

Yes you can ;) As a rule, I like to hinder my life. It may be better if the author may not have had contact with Linux.

Of course, do not look at it because it is nonsense, it should be AP and not another router. But if you want OpenWRT you can upload it but you better not try it because you will make a brick from the router.

So far I have connected FunBox itself but that I did not have anywhere to buy a double telephone socket, I used the rj11 and net splitter and the tel is on one wire and not like I wanted to do it on two free ones. And I do not know if it is the fault that when you pick up the phone disconnects the net? I used to have this situation but it was a landline phone and it turned out that there were tarnished wires on the pole.

Well, I want a second free pair of wires to connect the phone from the main socket that connects to the line from the pole. From this socket I have a cable up to my room and here I have a socket from which the telephone cable goes to the router. And now I did it so that I gave a splitter to this socket and there is internet and telephone on it, maybe it breaks? That is why I was thinking of buying a double socket and connecting the phone on these slow wires at the other outlet.
Unless your phone needs to be connected directly to the router?

It works fine already. I replaced the twisted pair cable from socket to socket. That which I thought had several veins it had but it was a piece and was connected to the installation cable.

FAQ

TL;DR: For VoIP with Orange FunBox and Sagemcom 2704, use 2 wires to the FunBox and 2 back to phones; "polarization matters." Configure the 2704 as an AP by changing its IP and disabling DHCP to extend Wi‑Fi. [Elektroda, ---trafopowielacz---, post #16798817]

Why it matters: This setup keeps your phone, wired PC internet, and whole‑home Wi‑Fi working without double‑NAT or dropouts.

Quick Facts

How do I connect Orange FunBox and keep VoIP working on house phones?

Terminate the incoming line to the FunBox. Use the spare two wires to return dial tone from the FunBox’s phone port to house sockets. Observe polarity. This keeps VoIP active on existing phones without extra adapters. "Polarization matters." [Elektroda, ---trafopowielacz---, post #16798817]

Should the phone plug into the FunBox or the wall jack?

For VoIP service, plug the phone into the FunBox’s phone port. If you want phones at other jacks, back‑feed that output over the spare pair to the wall circuit. Do not parallel it with the raw line. [Elektroda, ---trafopowielacz---, post #16798817]

Can I use my Sagemcom Fast 2704 to extend Wi‑Fi without flashing new firmware?

Yes. Connect it LAN‑to‑LAN from the FunBox, change the 2704’s IP to the FunBox’s subnet, and disable DHCP. It will act as an access point and extend coverage. [Elektroda, piotrek22101, post #16798857]

How do I set up the Sagemcom 2704 as an Access Point (AP)?

  1. Log into the 2704, set a unique LAN IP in the FunBox subnet, and save.
  2. Disable DHCP on the 2704 and set Wi‑Fi SSID/password and channel.
  3. Connect FunBox LAN to 2704 LAN and reboot both devices. [Elektroda, piotrek22101, post #16798857]

Is flashing OpenWrt on the Sagemcom 2704 a good idea here?

Not for basic range extension. Forum advice warns of a real risk of bricking the router during flashing. Use AP mode instead unless you need advanced routing features. [Elektroda, makosuu, post #16799752]

What changes if I do flash OpenWrt on the 2704?

With the suggested build, the 4th LAN port becomes a WAN port. That allows a router‑behind‑router design, which adds complexity and can cause double‑NAT if misconfigured. This is only for advanced users. [Elektroda, ---trafopowielacz---, post #16798845]

Why does picking up the phone disconnect my internet?

A misused RJ11/DSL splitter or incorrect wiring can load the DSL line, causing sync drops when a handset goes off‑hook. Correct the wiring or remove the splitter to restore stability. [Elektroda, pilnik88, post #16801555]

What causes crackling on the phone after rewiring, and how do I fix it?

Loose or poor‑quality cable segments introduce noise. Replacing the suspect run with proper twisted‑pair and secure terminations cleared the crackling in this case. Check every junction and replace damaged spans. [Elektroda, pilnik88, post #16815870]

How do I use one 4‑wire cable for both DSL to the FunBox and phones back to rooms?

Use one pair from the entry point to feed DSL to the FunBox. Use the spare pair from the FunBox’s phone port to back‑feed dial tone to other rooms. Keep pairs twisted and polarity correct. [Elektroda, ---trafopowielacz---, post #16798817]

What is VoIP in this setup?

VoIP means your phone service comes through the FunBox over the internet, not the raw copper line. The FunBox converts it to analog for your phones and can distribute dial tone over existing pairs. [Elektroda, ---trafopowielacz---, post #16798817]

What is an Access Point (AP)?

An AP is a device that bridges your wired network to Wi‑Fi without doing separate routing. In this thread, the 2704 should act as an AP, not a second router. [Elektroda, makosuu, post #16799752]

What is an RJ11 splitter and should I use one here?

An RJ11 splitter divides a single jack into two. Using it to combine DSL and phone on the same run can cause interference and dropouts. Route DSL to the FunBox and back‑feed phone separately instead. [Elektroda, pilnik88, post #16801555]

How can I test the phone on the FunBox without making a call?

Use the FunBox’s built‑in phone test feature. It verifies VoIP status and wiring. "In Funbox you have the option of testing your phone." Run it after each change. [Elektroda, ---trafopowielacz---, post #16798845]

My Wi‑Fi coverage is weak. What’s the simplest path to better range?

Place the 2704 as a wired AP on another floor or far room. Change its IP, disable DHCP, and reuse your main SSID and password for seamless roaming. This solved coverage issues in the thread. [Elektroda, piotrek22101, post #16798857]
