Hello, I use the Orange fiber optic in the option of 300 Mb / s. The deadline for renewing the contract is coming up and I am wondering if I should take the Funbox 3.0 or if it is worth buying a modem myself. The equipment from Orange is rather the latest wonder of technology, but whether in a small apartment, where at most 3/4 of the devices are connected, it would be profitable to buy a modem on your own? If so, which one?
Funbox 3.0 has a more powerful processor, more memory and better WiFi 5GHz (partly due to MIMO4x4 support, in part due to stronger prock). One box would be eliminated because the FB3 has a built-in optical modem.
I'll step on the subject. How is it finally with this own router under the fiber optic instead of the funbox? I tried to explore the topic as much as I could, I lost a lot of time and did not find any specific answer that the router to buy and the same contradictory information. I have read that it must support the 802.1qi standard and have the option of setting the VLAN ID. But these are options under VDSL, which is something else than fiber optics ...? I will add that I am interested in a router at a price of up to PLN 400. In order to have a wifi of minimum 300Mbps, because the main reason for which he wants to change the router is tragic wifi on the funbox. I do not want to connect another router to the funbox in order not to be in the internal network because I care about setting ddns to be able to wake up by WoL. It turns out that such wifi routers (even expensive) is very little. . I found something like: https://www.morele.net/router-cisco-rv132w-e-k9-g5-859433/ https://www.morele.net/router-cisco-rv215w-e-k9-g5-541517/ https://www.morele.net/router-tenda-ac15-869273/ in turn about it: https://www.morele.net/router-asus-dsl-ac68u-649248 was mentioned in the Orange forum with the following: https://nasz.orange.pl/t5/Modemy-i-routery/Wlasny-router-do-swiatlowodu/td-p/1216 I called techn help. asusa and told me that none of their routers is suitable for Orange (!) and be wise here. I also found the information that you need to upload the alternative software (tomato) or hard to sweat by modifying the code. Is there anyway there is a router that can be inserted under an optical fiber instead of a funbox without any sophisticated manipulation beyond the usual configurations available on it?
//// Well, I did it on my own. I finally took the routers: https://www.morele.net/router-asus-rt-n66u-456716/ admittedly more expensive than I planned, because I did not find any info about cheaper ones that work with FTTH orange (and on this subject only imprecise premises), but it was worth it
