Hello. I recently bought a phone that has USB and I wanted to try to make a docking station, because all on the Allegro have a built-in cable that allows 1A current flow. I wanted to buy a USB C plug and a USB A plug and solder and make some extra cables on thicker wires, but I read on several pages that USB type C cables have a built-in resistor that limits the current flow, and if you can't do it, I can damage the device or charger because then a current of more than 3A flows through the cable. The phone is designed to be charged with 4A current, but I do not have the original charger and I would like to charge it with a 2.4A charger, do I really have to give a resistor? If it is important, the phone is Oneplus 5.

Do you know what you are writing about?

The current will flow at such an intensity that will result from the "needs" of the telephone. The "needs" of the phone are controlled by the charging circuit on the phone board. The resistor in question is probably a question of identification, which is not implemented in all devices. Another thing is that in different devices it may be a resistor with different values.

Where did this "brilliant" idea come from?

How did you count it? Do you know the cross-sections of these cables?

Why don't you have an Ori charger? After all, it is a relatively fresh model. Stolen? Found? Give it to the owner, you have 2 weeks to do so, then this appropriation.
The ori cable can endure so much, a suitable charger. Which increases the tension.

I bought one and it was not, I will not send back. As for these stations on the Allegro, I wrote to the seller and wrote to me that 1A. It says on the original charger that it can charge with electricity, 4A. I'm just asking because there are some articles that show that when we have the wrong cable, it can damage the phone or the charger because the phone will start to take more from the charger than it can give. It seems a bit stupid to me, but I have read something like that and I want to know if I am going to charge with a 2.4A charger then I have to give a resistor or the phone will just notice that the charger can give 2.4A and will charge the maximum?

Normal cable. It is the phone that gets along with the charger and the charger increases the voltage. You can always buy a cable and charger in China for a few $.
I wonder where the seller got this phone. May you not be responsible for receiving stolen goods. Because it's very suspicious.

I ordered a blitzwolf cable and an Aukey 4 USB charger and so I plan to charge the phone because charging with 4A current is not entirely beneficial for the battery, and I almost always have time. Another question about charging from powerabank. I have a xioami 10000mah powerbank, I have an original short micro usb cable there and can I charge the phone with a micro usb to usb c adapter with this powerbank? I bought a short usb c cable but it will come in a month :) I also see that for about $ 17 you can buy an "original charger", but will it be the original charger? I don't really need it, but maybe I could order it in advance to have it.

As they say it is so.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around creating a USB Type-C charging dock for the OnePlus 5 using a 2.4A charger. The main concern is whether a resistor is necessary to prevent potential damage to the device or charger due to incorrect current flow. Participants clarify that the phone's charging circuit regulates current draw, and the resistor mentioned is likely related to cable identification rather than current limitation. The author also inquires about using a micro USB to USB-C adapter with a power bank and the authenticity of purchasing an "original charger." Suggestions include sourcing cables and chargers from reputable suppliers and considering the impact of charging speeds on battery health.
