Hello, I know that the topic has been rolled over more than once.
In the last short period of time, I fell for the 2 cheapest meters for PLN 20,
The M830 unit fell due to the display, the upper half of the trail hit, when I opened it and saw its mount, I'm not surprised.
In the second cheapest dpm brand, it shows bad measurements, even after replacing the battery.
I would like to buy something that will last at least a few years and will not break just lying on the shelf.
The multimeter will measure mainly voltage and current, mainly at the car, voltage for household electrical works, circuit continuity, possibly, resistance occasionally.
I did a reconnaissance of what you can have and I'm thinking about:
    -UNIT UT139C
    -UNIT UT61A
    -Mastech MS8268

    or something cheaper:
    UNIT M890G / F
    UNIT UT50A / B / C

So what do you recommend / do not recommend and why?
Maybe some of you have one of these measures and can comment on the advantages / disadvantages.
    Thank you for any tips.

No one has had contact with these measures?

    Hello my colleague.
It is true that I have not had contact with Uni-T meters, but I am in a similar situation to you.
I have to buy a new meter soon because the old one is out of order. For several days I have been trying to gain knowledge on this subject.
I will say one thing, Uni-T is pretty bad and I'm not sure if it's worth spending money on them at all.
For example, the UT61C, like the UT61E, has very poor connectors, perhaps one of the worst on the market. I will not mention other aspects because these are probably enough to ignore these models.
Details can be found by a colleague on YT (UT61C 10 minutes)

    (UT61E 9:30 minutes)

    - this is the third part of an extensive review, in a way very detailed.
After reading posts on various forums, including here, I gave up Uni-T entirely.
It's a pity because they are cheap ... but something for something.
    best regards
    Michael

    PS
I forgot to add that the UT61A model is similarly built to the above mentioned model. I did not find a review well done.

From your kit, only Mastech makes sense. Uni-T, due to the low quality of these devices, I would not choose any of them. Well, unless the price is adequate to the quality, i.e. symbolic.
    Best regards!

This Mastech, compared to the UT139C, has no security
On what basis do you recommend it ...

Based on build quality. I used to have a Mastech like this and it was really solid, decent laminate and display. I don't think anything has changed. The protections are of course important, but I don't know if the decent sockets, thick laminate, and good-quality range selector are not more important.

    Mastech MS8268

This is only my private opinion, of course everyone can have their own opinion on this subject.

    Best regards!

So I decided that the price would ultimately decide.
On Aliexpres where the price of the UT-139C is almost double the price of the MS62868, the M890G is only slightly cheaper.
I read, searched and there was also the option of the VC97 meter at a similar price. What do you think about it?
    Ultimately Mastech or the VC97?

Of the two, Mastech is better.
    Best regards!

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the selection of multimeters suitable for automotive and household electrical measurements. The user expresses dissatisfaction with low-cost models, specifically the M830 and another unnamed brand, due to poor build quality and inaccurate readings. They consider several models: UNIT UT139C, UNIT UT61A, Mastech MS8268, UNIT M890G/F, and UNIT UT50A/B/C. Responses indicate a general skepticism towards Uni-T models, particularly citing issues with build quality and connector reliability. Mastech is recommended for its solid construction, despite lacking certain safety features. Ultimately, the Mastech MS8268 is favored over the UNIT models, with a later inquiry about the VC97 model, which also receives a positive comparison to Mastech.
